Position: President and Chief Executive Officer
Reports to: Board of Directors through the President of the Board

Purpose
The President/CEO is the chief executive officer of Envision Great Fond du Lac (EGF) and is responsible for supervision of all employees and volunteers, and organization outcomes. These responsibilities include the following:
Duties and Responsibilities
- The President / CEO is responsible for the full range of activities of the EGF including: coordination the suite of programs for the Chamber and Economic Development activity for Fond du Lac County.
- Serve as the chief spokesperson for the EGF. Communicate EGF positions on community, public and political issues as appropriate. Be highly visible throughout Fond du Lac County and region. Form effective collaborative and working relationships with key leaders of municipal, county and state government leaders, business owners of all sizes and corporate executives, educational leaders and members of the media. Communicate to keep all constituents informed of successes and “wins” of EGF, reinforcing value of and investment in the organization to the Greater Fond du Lac area.
- Effectively recruit, motivate and inspire volunteers to creative and fruitful action and work in concert with Board members on key volunteer leader identification and training.
- Foster a daily working environment that values teamwork and ensure the highest levels of customer service.
- Oversee programs related to ensuring EGF membership satisfaction and retention and that dues and non-dues revenue streams enhance and support the organization’s program of work that further defines the relevance and value of the EGF.
- Identify, develop and oversee revenue generating programs and events.
- Drive a robust economic development program to encourage and support the expansion of existing industry, economic gardening, entrepreneurial innovation and creation of new jobs and capital investment in Fond du Lac County.
- Responsible for personnel activity including the interviewing, recommendation for hiring, employee training, the planning and assigning and directing of all employment activity, work performance evaluations, conduct appraisal and reward as well as the administration of discipline and the answering of all workplace complaints and resolution of problems.
- Work to maintain and/or initiate effective working relationships with aligned organizations on a regional basis with a particular focus on economic development. Look for opportunities to enhance existing regional initiatives (e.g. I-41 Corridor).
- Communication: verbal, written, and listening skills; ability to present and persuade; media relations. Ability to communicate with a wide variety of individuals at many levels within a community.
- Serve as the chief liaison with other chambers/economic development of commerce in the region and the State.
- Responsible for financial management which included the creation and implementation of annual budget.
- Manage the EGF affiliated 501(c)(3) & 501(c)(6) foundations.
Interaction with Board of Directors
- Maintain open communication with the Board and work with the Board in the governance of the EGF; bring issues to the Board in a timely manner.
- Work with the Board President to prepare agendas and materials for Board and Executive Committee meetings.
- Develop goals and objectives for recommendation to the Board.
- Attend EGF Board committee meetings and provide staff support for committee efforts.
- Work with the Board and staff to develop an annually multi-year Strategic Plan that provides direction for the long-term activities of EGF and for the long-term allocation of financial and human resources.
Authority
- To expend funds within policy and budget parameters that are consistent with good business practice.
- To hire, set compensation within budget parameters and establish terms of employment to; direct the activities of, evaluate and terminate employees of EGF.
- To execute contracts on behalf of the EGF.
- To give voice to public policies in the public arena.
Minimum Education/Professional Recognition
- A Bachelor’s degree is required; an advanced degree in business, law, public administration or related field is preferred, or if candidate is currently operating within the chamber or economic development industry.
- Chamber of Commerce, or trade association management experience.
Minimum Experience
- Supervisory experience required. CEO experience highly desirable.
- Minimum of three years of P&L responsibility.
- Government relations experience a preferred.
- Accomplished and comfortable public speaking skills preferred.
Minimum Physical Expectations
The position requires:
- Physical activity that includes extensive time working at a computer and communication via telephone and video conference.
- High levels of energy, varied and long hours.
- A valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
- Extensive local travel with personal vehicle with appropriate expense reimbursed.
