Position Overview

The Director of Operations is responsible for the successful development and implementation of Luxfer Graphic Arts operational plans for the manufacturing facility. The position fosters and promotes our Safety First and Customer First culture and manages our manufacturing facility in accordance with company values and objectives. The role focuses on establishing and maintaining a world class manufacturing facility, reducing manufacturing costs, optimizing inventory utilization, promoting a LEAN culture, effectively manage operations and maximize profitability.


Primary Responsibilities
  • Manage the manufacturing operations and support process improvement within the Luxfer Graphic Arts facilities.
  • Leader of operational processes and functions including, Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Materials and EH&S.
  • Drive specific initiatives to achieve cost reductions through Lean manufacturing.
  • Monitor and maintain key elements and performance indicators to achieve goal attainment. Analyze and report product and process trends within the LGA manufacturing facilities utilizing a scorecard method.
  • Develop maintain and improve operational metrics monitoring performance and attainment of key goals and objectives.
  • Develop long range goals and processes to support the long-term goals of the business.
  • Coach and develop personnel to improve personal performance, identify problems and opportunities and recommend operation improvements.
  • Forge close partnerships with other members of the Senior Leadership Team and other key stakeholders ensuring best practices are incorporated into the business unit
  • Manage and maintain the annual budget for responsible areas including the development and implementation of capital projects and expenditures, fixed and variable costs within the manufacturing facility.
  • Implement Manufacturing Lean concepts and be an active participant in Luxfer’s Lean Manufacturing Team


Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree for a 4 year college or university in a Technical Discipline required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • 5 -10 years Operations Management experience in a manufacturing setting required
  • Formal Lean Manufacturing training with proven experience successfully applying Lean principles required
  • A passion for applying GEMBA principles to promote continuous improvement by active presence on the shop floor with a hands-on approach to Leadership.
  • Industrial or Manufacturing background required.
  • Strong analytical, numerical and reasoning abilities.
  • Must be well organized and able to efficiently and effectively manage multiple complex activities simultaneously.
  • Well-developed communication skills both written and oral with the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
  • Experience with Microsoft products including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Previous experience with ERP systems a plus.
