MTC Director of Operations
Job Summary
The MTC Director of Operations oversees all activities, personnel, projects and policies relating to operational services at the Provo MTC and international MTCs. The incumbent also serves as an integral part of the MTC Coordinating Council made up of MTC Directors and the Administrative Director of Missionary Training Centers.
Essential Functions
- Oversight of General Operations Provo MTC
- Consult with Directors and Managers of the Provo MTC and ecclesiastical leaders to determine needs and to provide and adjust operational services (e.g. Volunteers, Store, Missionary Assistance, laundry, mailroom, copy center, salon, etc.)
- Decision-maker on changes to Operational services at the Provo MTC
- Provide direction and oversight to the manager of general operations
- Oversight for all Provo MTC construction and renovation projects and physical facilities
- Drive master construction and maintenance plans for the future of the MTC
- Ensure that all MTC facilities (buildings and grounds) are designed, constructed and maintained to further the mission of the MTC
- Provide leadership and oversight for all MTC construction and renovations projects
- Ensure successful collaboration and communication with Church and BYU leadership relating to physical facilities
- Responsibility for the mental, emotional and physical well-being of missionaries at the Provo MTC
- Analyze data, identify trends and find solutions to issues involving:
- Medical, dental, clinical, and dietary services for missionaries
- Legal and military issues for missionaries in residence
- Physical health and exercise programs
- Safety, security and risk management
- Management of Operations Personnel
- Responsible for the hiring and training of the Manager of General Operations, Manager of Missionary Health and Well-Being, and Manager of Facilities (Construction Project Manager)
- As supervisor, manage employee goal setting, performance evaluation, and professional development opportunities
- Leadership and Strategic Planning
- As a member of the MTC Administrative Council. contribute ideas and suggestions in the formulation and implementation of strategic planning, policies, and major initiatives for all MTCs
- Serve as an approver and steward over multiple assigned budgets
- Provide operational support to the Director of International MTCs and all international MTC supervisors of support services
- Ensure consistent operations across all MTCs.
- Assist with international MTC operational issues as requested by the director of international MTCs.
- Provide support to international MTC supervisor of support services as requested by the director of international MTCs
Education/Experience
Minimum education/experience required:
- Masters degree in business, public administration or related field PLUS 10 yearsâ high-level administration experience OR equivalent combination of both education and experience
Preferred:
- High-level administration experience in an educational operation
- MTC Administrative experience
Skills, abilities, knowledge, licenses, certifications required:
- Significant experience and exceptional aptitude with administration and organizational leadership
- Expertise in program assessment, financial management, and project management
- Executive presence dealing with multiple levels of Church, BYU, and other domestic/international organizations
