Group Description
The office of the CTO has been tasked with the technology transformation of the firm. This includes leading and managing the cloud, Agile implementation, engineering, architecture, and all the tools, products, and training that will enable team members to achieve our transformation.
Position Overview
As the senior CTO Platform Management leader, this role is responsible for the end to end operational management of the CTO technology platforms, with primary leadership for end to end application support, application validation and problem/change/capacity management. This role will also lead a community of practice for all federated platform leaders across the Wells Fargo Technology organization.
Position Responsibilities
Key areas of accountability and responsibility include –
- Accountable for operational management of CTO technology platforms including availability and IT operational risk in partnership with all technology stakeholders including CIO/TDE teams & enterprise IT teams.
- Accountable for Resiliency across CTO platforms, in partnership with Site Reliability Engineering leadership in CTO and Technology.
- Single point of contact for all of technology for the CTO Platform in the context of releases, support and maintenance activity, initiatives driven by information security / cyber defense and all safety & soundness initiatives.
- Ability to partner with all CIO areas and federated Platform Leader to set standard and define the use of common tools and technologies for Stability and Availability.
Specific responsibilities also include managing a cohesive team providing level one and level two application support for internally developed and vendor applications.
This role supports all Businesses in partnership with Group Platform leaders aligned with Group CIO areas within Wells Fargo Technology. In addition to focusing on CTO Platform Mgmt and Resiliency leadership, this role will provide overall Technology Group tools, policy, guidance and overview of consistency.
Functions managed include:
- CTO problem, incident, capacity and change management, in partnership with the associated enterprise and COE teams.
- Stability and Availability oversight to ensure we run the bank consistently across Wells Fargo Technology. Eventually lead the Technology-wide Availability and Stability program.
- Ensure resiliency partnering with CTO Engineering around critical tooling products(SRE, platform management etc..)
- Set the guidelines and tools for the federated Platform Leaders to ensure consistency across the bank.
- Partner with Technology teams to manage application layered products, middleware and database platforms with a focus on business availability.
- Strong partnership with enterprise infrastructure services and other shared services teams to provide superior end to end operational platform support and efficiently deliver infrastructure services for business growth.
- Design, development and support of platform management tools including monitoring and testing tools.
- Close partnership with architecture teams on platform management.
- Close partnership with application development and vendors in ensuring that applications are built and deployed in a highly supportable and consistent manner, with a focus on standardization where possible, and custom where necessary.
Partner with business, application development and operational risk to help continually improve IT operational risk controls (e.g. automated trading controls, information security, cyber defense, patching) across the platform. - Platform Management standardizes operational management of applications in a manner closely aligned with the business, while allowing for the sharing of best practices across teams, as well as creating dedicated application support teams for specific areas.
Required Qualifications
- 12+ years of technology infrastructure and strategy experience
- 7+ years of management experience in technology
Desired Qualifications
- Experience managing multiple enterprise-wide technology infrastructure or service components or all end-to-end distributive infrastructure activities for the enterprise
Other Desired Qualifications
- Experience leading transformational technology efforts in a large and dynamic segment of a financial services organization
- Significant experience in technology platform executive leadership including operations, resiliency/stability/availability and safety & soundness
- Demonstrated vendor negotiation and partnership skills along with experience working with technology offshore vendor relationships
- 10+ years of executive leadership experience managing a complex, large scale technology organization including senior managers, managers, individual contributors and vendor resources across multiple global locations
- Demonstrated prior experiences in effective engagement with senior executives and external regulators
- Ability to effectively drive and lead change in an organization with Wells Fargo’s size, scale and complexity
- Demonstrated experience in building, leading, developing and retaining a high performing team of leaders, strong technical experts and high performing professionals in a cultural environment that achieves results through team member engagement and satisfaction
- Proven ability to develop technology strategy, operating model & roadmaps with clear objectives and aligned with business, enterprise and technology strategies
- Highly effective decision-making/critical thinking/problem solving skills with a collaborative and results-oriented leadership style
- Demonstrated ability to consult with key business partners and translate complex, technical concepts so that they are clearly understood along with the ability to effectively partner and influence at the senior executive level
- Demonstrated experience motivating and influencing groups or individuals across organizational boundaries to gain trust and confidence to make timely decisions
- Proven experience in establishing a vision, developing the strategy to support the vision, gaining consensus across key functional leadership through effective communication, and driving action towards the vision through the effective management of goals and objectives
- Excellent communication (oral and written) with ability to communicate at multiple levels ranging from technologists to senior managers and executive leadership
