As the Global Head of Learning Technology you will be a key member of the Global Learning leadership team for AZ, reporting to the Global Head of Learning. You will be responsible for the Learning Technology strategy and roadmap for AZ globally.

Working closely with the members of the Enterprise Learning Board (ELB) you will be responsible for the development and implementation of an innovative and agile technology stack that will support AZ’s 2025 Learning Strategy and will build a high performing team and will ensure that AZ will put the world’s best learning and performance technology and tools into the hands of AZ’s people in order for them to push the boundaries of science.

This is a leadership role within AZ’s Talent & Development COE, offering a unique opportunity to lead a critical part of AZ’s people strategy.

Typical Accountabilities:

  • Develop, design and implement a multi-year technology roadmap to support AZ’s learning strategy to build enterprise capability and culture to support the Growth Through Innovation business strategy.
  • Craft and direct fiscal year budget and planning activities via partnerships with Enabling Functions IT, HR and all other internal stakeholders.
  • Research external best practice and benchmark other leading organizations to make strategic Learning technology recommendations to senior line and HR leadership
  • Simplify and streamline user experience and end user support, delivering higher quality interactions across the Learning & Development team.
  • Partner with Technology & Learning Shared Services to align on the Learning Technology vision and strategy, and to ensure proper maintenance support is provided in technical areas
  • In partnership with AZ Technology and Procurement Functions, lead vendor selection and management for Learning systems and technology
  • Onboard new internal businesses onto the Enterprise LxP and LMS platforms within agreed SLAs.
  • Of immediate focus will be the completion of an enterprise pilot for an LxP 2019/2020.
  • Accountable for the development of a Learning analytics strategy and corresponding infrastructure investment.
  • Accountable for the maintenance of AZ’s Learning content strategy including the selection and ongoing management of AZ’s enterprise content library agreements.
  • Counsel and advise Talent & Development leaders and HR leaders on emerging capabilities and/or innovative technical solutions; consult and provide guidance regarding new solutions and applications to consider.


Essential requirements:

  • Business degree
  • Extensive experience in designing, developing and administering Learning Systems and Content/Knowledge Management; experience in HR systems administration or HRIS projects is an asset.
  • Ability to lead a team of professionals with experience in the HR technologies space
  • Track record of successfully leading large scale transformational change and virtual teams in a complex, multi-national matrixed environment. Includes program management, business needs analysis, requirements documentation, change management and systems implementation
  • Transformation leadership skills required including strong vision and influencing skills in a multi-national and cross-cultural work environment.
  • Experience researching and implementing new learning methods that leverage cutting edge technology.
  • Experience in evaluating learning software and making recommendations for purchase across a multitude of learning contexts
  • Strong networking, communication and relationship-building skills, with experience of collaborating and sharing knowledge between diverse teams
  • Experience of influencing at the highest levels within large multinational organisations.
  • Ability to interpret and communicate technical information in business language
  • Proven track record in delivering high-pace programmes/projects and decision making
  • Excellent business engagement and acumen, with sensitivity to political/economic environment
  • Experience of managing and controlling a budget
  • Experience of working within Matrix project teams, including virtual working with teams across a number of regions
  • Experience of working in agile multi-disciplinary teams
  • Experience of building and leading high performing teams
