Summary

Lead the immunology-associated portion (both small and large molecule) of the preclinical drug development programs for the Tumor Microenvironment Modulation (TME) Thematic Research Center (TRC), which develops therapeutic targets at the intersection of tumor, stromal and immune biology with the TME to enhance responsiveness to checkpoint blockade and other targeted therapies. The candidate will be an experienced program team leader and drug hunter. S/he will be an effective manager and mentor to more junior leaders, PhDs and associates. Since BMS is a matrixed organization, the candidate will be expected to effectively collaborate with colleagues in supportive line functions (including protein biotherapeutics, medicinal chemistry, pharmaceutics candidate optimization, bioinformatics and translational medicine) to advance preclinical development of therapeutic candidates to early clinical development.

Roles & Responsibilities

Lead of team of 30-35 scientists and effectively collaborate with other TME Modulation TRC discovery and translational biology colleagues as well as colleagues in supportive line functions (including discovery biotherapeutics, small molecule drug discovery, translational medicine, early clinical development and project leadership) to advance preclinical development of therapeutic candidates to early clinical development

Collaborate with both local and global bioinformatics as well as translational medicine colleagues to generate testable hypotheses for targetable immunologic nodes and pathways within the tumor microenvironment that drive resistance to current immunotherapies
