The Director reports to the Dean of the CoA+A, sets Departmental priorities in consultation with the faculty, provides vision and leadership in strategic planning, administers College and School-wide policies, and assumes final responsibility for curricular programming, unit operating budgets, planning documents, self-studies, and annual reports. The Director takes an active role in, and assumes final responsibility for hiring all faculty and administrative staff within the School, including personnel evaluation protocols. The Director is responsible for assigning faculty workloads, individual course schedules, and service duties, and coordinates these with university metrics, recruitment functions, and university graduation initiatives. In addition, the Director takes a leadership role in departmental advancement. The Director represents and advocates for the School to the Dean and the Provost & Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, and serves as an active member of the cultural community beyond the University.
