The Director, Plant Operations oversees all daily operations of the production facility, as well as coordinates activities functional departments such as Manufacturing; Quality Assurance; Engineering & Maintenance; Forecasting & Planning; Procurement, Transportation & Logistics, Environmental, Health, & Safety, Sales & Marketing; and Research & Development to effect operational efficiency and economy. The Director, Plant Operations is a strong leader, with objectives to drive workforce stability, continuous performance improvement, and a highly motivated and energized workplace. This position is accountable for the operational performance and results of the plant.

Essential Job Functions – Duties and Responsibilities
· Define objectives to consistently deliver metric targets for key drivers: e.g.; direct, indirect, and salaried labor, including overtime; repairs and maintenance; operating supplies; waste & damage; yield loss; and regulatory & environmental compliance costs.
· As member of the Leadership Team coordinate activities with departments across the organization such as Manufacturing; Quality Assurance; Engineering & Maintenance; Forecasting & Planning; Procurement, Transportation & Logistics, Environmental, Health, & Safety, Sales & Marketing; and Research & Development to effect operational efficiency.
· Conduct monthly analysis of plant P&L for variances to budget and prior year performance. Ensure strong corrective action bias for unfavorable period performance.
· Direct, coach and develop subordinate managers.
· Establish a culture of safety in the factories and look for opportunities to improve work place safety and report safety and environmental concerns to their supervisor.
· Responsibility to adhere to Food Safety policies and report food safety and quality concerns to their supervisor.
· Ensure that all employees in the facility clearly understand their roles and responsibilities and expectations of performance.
· Interview, hire, and train employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
· Analyze division or department budget requests to identify areas in which reductions can be made, and allocates operating budget.
· Provide guidance and planning for capital expansion and efficiency improvement investments.
· Direct the future plant growth and capital needs through the annual capital planning process.
· Confer with administrative personnel and review operations and sales reports to determine changes in programs or operations required.
· Lead preparation of directives to department administrator outlining policy, program, or operation changes to be implemented.
· Promote organization in industry, manufacturing or trade associations.
· Participate in industry meetings.

Minimum Qualifications Required to Perform Work:
· Education: College or university program degree in related field of study. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
· Certifications: PCQI, HACCP certified, knowledge of PMO
· Experience: Two to four years related experience and/or training
· Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing and production planning.
· Knowledge of full life cycle food production, including waste water management.
· Experience in strong process control methodologies, including food production controls for pH and acidity, and environmental controls for temperature and humidity.
· Effectively read and analyze P&L statement for plant and devise appropriate course corrections
· Must have strong verbal and written communications skills with ability to express ideas effectively and efficiently in the common language
· Read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations.
· Ability to apply critical thinking and business acumen to problem solving.
· Work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
· Write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
· Ability to establish & maintain effective working relationships with all contacts inside and outside of the company with strong interpersonal and organizational skills
· Ability to multi-task, focus and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment

· Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

· Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Travel Requirements
1. Travel up to 5 % of the time should be expected.
2. Travel may be required with little prior warning and/or for extended periods of time. Off-site deployment of up to 2 weeks could be expected.
