PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
Primarily responsible for the capital management (Fleet, Real Estate & Material Handling Equipment) and process oversight amongst the DC’s. Drives network-wide process improvement projects & standards. Coordinates the efforts for TruBlu with all DC improvement projects including business and technical innovation efforts. In conjunction with DC Managers, pursues enhanced operational effectiveness through the refinement of existing procedures, business processes and the evaluation/implementation of innovative technology-based solutions. Provide extensive project planning expertise to assist in cost-effective pursuit of corporate strategic objectives. A centralized, corporate liaison position with the primary responsibility of ensuring that distribution center operations’ facilities, Fleet, standard operating procedures, and training programs are consistent and effective for customer satisfaction.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Directs the Fleet and Transportation Management functions throughout the network.
  • Standardize the Fleet and create master specifications for vehicles. Negotiate with Lessors & bidding process.
  • Works closely with, and makes recommendations to senior management regarding identified issues and decisions related to the Distribution Operations DOT Compliance, equipment requirements & recommendations, and EH&S programs.
  • Researches and recommends emerging fleet technologies to improve compliance and safety of company fleet. Oversees the implementation and rollout of these programs.
  • Standardize DC layout, infrastructure (uninterrupted power supply, LED Lighting, security). Warehouse capacity management within DC and throughout the network. Increase Cross Dock utilization from idle real estate.
  • Investigates workplace and company vehicle accidents and taking the appropriate corrective & preventative actions.
  • Serves as the DC’s Project Lead and primary contact person for GEP and other LEAN programs and initiatives.
  • Technological lead working with Business Systems/IT on robotics, automation and software platforms & initiatives.
  • Standardize training programs & matrix. Develop CDL & non-DCL Drivers at each DC.
  • Serve as emergency DC Manager during short term events.
  • Certification lead with Quality & Regulatory requirements, ensuring the operation meets all FDA, BOP, OSHA, DOT and compliance guidelines.
  • Works directly with customers on new revenue generation in Transportation & 3PL Warehousing. Includes margin analysis, forecasting & billing accuracy.
  • Ensures that budgets and schedules meet company requirements with organization responsibility for the overall control of planning, staffing, budgeting, expense management along with recommendation and implementation changes of current methods.
  • May provide assistance to junior level staff with more complex tasks that require a higher level of understanding of functions.
  • May escalate issues to Senior Director of Supply Chain for resolution, as deemed necessary.
  • Reviews and complies with the Code of Business Conduct and all applicable company policies and procedures, local, state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Assist with various projects as assigned by a direct management.

SUPERVISION:
  • May be responsible for the direct supervision of various levels of staff.

EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Operations, Logistics, or Materials; in lieu of degree additional years of relevant experience may be considered.

EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS:
  • 10+ years’ related experience; or a Master’s degree with 5 years’ experience; or equivalent directly related work experience.
  • 5+ years’ experience as a Manager; or 5+ years’ experience in a senior managerial role.
  • Experience with DOT & OSHA reporting requirements and outside agency requirements (FDA, DEA, OSHA, BOPS etc.).
  • Proficient with PCs, Microsoft Office applications and related software systems.
  • Operational knowledge of supply chain systems, inventory management, transportation and safety programs.
  • Familiar with DOT regulations, driver through equipment requirements.
  • Distribution Center experience to understand rollouts and impacts to related processes, procedures & record retention.
  • Strong problem solving, analytical and organizational skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
