    Job Summary

    This position is responsible for effectively planning, directing, and administering the Information Technology Department. This position oversees the deployment and maintenance of information technology to support professional business practices and comply with regulatory agencies.

    Essential Job Duties

    • Provides leadership and management oversight to the Information Technology Department
    • Develop strategy as it relates to the organization’s IT infrastructure (computer and information systems, security, communication systems)
    • Develop, manage, and track the IT department’s annual budget
    • Identify business and technology needs and to optimize the use of information technology across the organization
    • Lead technology team in all aspects of full life-cycle development, including requirements analysis, system design, integration testing, and deployment, with documentation throughout
    • Manages the secure operation, monitoring and maintenance of the computer equipment available in the organization
    • Ensure smooth delivery and operation of IT services by monitoring systems performance
    • Create processes and standards for selection, implementation, and support of systems
    • Assist in building relationships with vendors and creating cost-efficient contracts
    • Collaborate with leadership and team leads to develop and maintain project/operational plans including prioritization of assignments/tasks
    • Identifies the need for revision of the Information Systems Strategic Plan, existing services or development of new services in response to changing users’ needs, regulatory requirements and current business practices
    • Maintains professional attitude and appearance at all times

    Qualifications

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Proven experience as an IT director or similar role
    • Excellent understanding of computer systems, security, network and systems administration, databases and data storage systems, and telecommunications systems
    • Strong knowledge of project management principles
    • Strong understanding of Healthcare systems and procedures
    • Excellent organization and time management skills and ability to establish priorities effectively.
    • MS Word, MS Excel
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (ability to effectively communicate well with clients, patients, co-workers and the pathologists)
    • Excellent customer service skills and ability to interact with clients in a professional, tactful and courteous manner
    • Ability to recognize and protect confidential information
    • Demonstrate ethical and legal accountability for the position

    Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
    • Minimum of (3) years in an IT leadership role at a health care facility required

    Licenses and Certificates:

    • A valid Washington State driver’s license

    Physical Requirements

    Requires ability to move throughout the laboratory and to stand/sit for long periods of time. Must be able to lift and carry office equipment and supplies weighing up to 20 pounds. Requires reaching, pushing, pulling, bending and stooping to perform duties. Must be able to hear verbal conversations over the phone and in-person with background noise. Must have visual ability to consistently identify objects and persons at a distance and read fine print on records and forms. Ability to speak clearly and make self understood in a one-on-one basis and in a variety of informal group settings.
