JOB SUMMARY: The Director of Information Systems primary responsibility is to supervise the Information Systems department’s employees and direct all activities including analysis, design, development, procurement, implementation, and maintenance of the Company’s high-availability, fault-tolerant data infrastructure to help ensure the timely delivery of network-efficient, low-latency, policy-compliant applications and data to users securely throughout the Company. This direction will include translating organizational strategic goals into action plans that establish ownership, detail accountability, articulate task importance, and coordinate workloads to complete tasks with the available resources. The Director of IT will plan, coordinate, direct, and design all operational activities of the IT Department, as well as provide direction and support for IT solutions that enhance mission-critical business operations. The Director of IT shall be an innovative and efficiency-oriented enabler of business strategies that will work closely with decision makers within the Company to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective technology solutions for all aspects of the organization.

Provide 24-hour, 7-day availability to support internal and external clients.

Deliver effective IT solutions for servers, storage, network, software, and communications to meet business goals and objectives.

Provide recommendations and support to staff and management in which the interests of the Company are at the forefront.

Stay abreast of and provide management recommendations for implementing new and emerging technologies.

Work closely with network, communication, and technology vendors to foster healthy relationships, manage contracts, and monitor service and expectations to maintain project delivery within established corporate guidelines.

Keep users informed by preparing performance reports and communicating system status.

Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing publications.

Preserve assets by implementing disaster recovery and back-up procedures and information.

Safeguard information system assets by defining access privileges; evaluating network and security technologies; developing requirements for local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), virtual private networks (VPNs), routers, firewalls, and related security and network devices; designing public key infrastructures (PKIs) including use of certification authorities (CAs) and digital signatures as well as hardware and software; adhering to industry standards; and remediating any security challenges in a timely manner.

Understand and adhere to all security policies and procedures relating to systems, data, and physical protection and safety.

Perform budgeting, performance metrics, and planning to ensure that IT systems are meeting the needs of the Company.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Education: BS Information Systems or related field
Registration: None
Certification: Microsoft Certified System Engineer (MCSE) or Certified Novell Engineer (CNE)
Experience: 10+ years of Information Systems or related experience
Other: Demonstrated management abilities
Valid Driver’s License with an acceptable MVR
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Must be knowledgeable in business administration and adept at planning, resource allocation, leadership, supervision, accounting, and finance. Must have advanced logic and reasoning to identify complex esoteric problems, develop and evaluate options, and implement the best solutions. Must demonstrate excellent leadership and initiative in developing staff, providing feedback, and setting goals to establish a cohesive and highly productive team.
