Summary:
The Food Service Director will be responsible for Food Service-related business and personnel management. Responsible for supervising, coordinating and directing the work duties of all Food Service personnel, including providing evaluative input to the Chief Operating Officer (or designee), and the preparation and distribution of meals for Universal Family of Schools. He/she will make sure Universal Family of Schools; program complies with local, state and federal agency requirements complete all required reports and operate the program in a businesslike manner.
Essential Functions:
- Be present at work every day, on-time and performs all duties as assigned effectively and efficiently.
- Is neat and professional in appearance befitting the role and responsibilities of the Food Service Director.
- Be responsible for the preparation of monthly menus.
- Be aware of and comply with Department of Public Instructions (DPI) mandates.
- Be responsible for the cleanliness and proper storage of all equipment and the proper handling, serving and storage of all foods.
- Be responsible for the cleanliness of all kitchens.
- Be responsible for keeping records and filing reports in connection with the school lunch program, as required by the School and State. Plan, supervise and monitor the program in accordance with the Code of Federal Regulations, State Department of Education criteria and procedures and Department of Health Regulations.
- Arrange for substitutes when Food Service personnel are absent.
- Be responsible for the purchase and maintenance of an inventory of all food commodities, supplies and equipment.

- Be responsible for evaluation of Food Service personnel.
- Assist Managers in evaluating the performance of the nutrition program assistants.
- Coordinate the use of Food Service department facilities and/or equipment by staff or outside groups.
- Manage the Food Service department in an efficient manner while following District budgetary guidelines.
- Coordinate required Training in Depth for all Managers and the yearly In-Service Education of all employees and report completion/compliance to the State.
- Supervise procedures regarding invoices, purchase orders, government reimbursement and personnel payrolls.
- Conduct Managersâ meetings, report updates to Chief Operating Officer.
- Perform any and all other duties prescribed by the Chief Operating Officer.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrated proficiency in effective communication.
- Ability to resolve and manage conflict.
- Demonstrated knowledge of school operations, school policies and procedure per the Universal Family of Schools employee and handbook in ADP.
- Ability to maintain accurate records.
- Ability to work cooperatively and in terms.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, staff and administrators.
Ongoing Requirements:
- Complete 15 hours of continuing education credits per year
Qualifications:
- Bachelorâs Degree (preferred) in Hospitality Management or relative field; Associate Degree (required)
- Must have Serv-Safe Certification
- Two (2) years relevant experience; preferably working in a food service environment.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize responsibilities.
- Ability to work effectively with others and work independently.
- Must have a valid drivers license
