Why does the job exist?
This position will manage and oversee New Mexico Higher Education Department’s daily financial operations through creation of the annual budget, budget projections, Budget Adjustment Requests (BAR), year end audit financial statements, procurement activities, payroll and monthly reconciliations, perform federal grant drawdowns and coordinating with grant managers to create federal financial reports
How does it get done?
Working closely with the Chief of Staff/CFO, oversee the work of ASD staff, meeting critical deadlines (budget submissions, year-end audit, and operating budget), adhering to NMS 1978, NMAC, MAP’s, GASB, and GAAP, compliance with the State Procurement Code, ensuring NMHED’s financial health, and improve the internal control process.

Ideal Candidate
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration preferred
- State Government experience
- Management/supervision experience
- Presentation skills (written and oral)
- Proficient with SHARE Financials and SHARE HCM
Minimum Qualification
A Bachelor’s Degree in any field of study from an accredited college or university and eight (8) years of professional level experience with a light strategic impact directly related to the purpose of the position defined by the agency at the time of recruitment. Any required licensure, certification or registration shall be defined at the time of recruitment and will be in addition to the above requirements.

Employment Requirements

Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. with extended periods of sitting.
