About the Position

The Baseball & Softball Director of Operations leads the overall direction of the club and its activities. The position reports to the Director of Athletic Operations and is responsible for the organization’s consistent achievement of its mission and financial objectives.

The Baseball & Softball Director of Operations must assure that the organization has a long-range strategy which achieves its mission, toward which it makes consistent and timely progress. This position provides leadership in developing program, organizational, and financial plans.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Develop and execute camps, clinics and private lesson programs
  • Create, market, schedule, and execute indoor and outdoor baseball and softball tournaments and leagues
  • Provide technical direction, mentorship and development to Nook baseball and softball athletes and coaches
  • Remain current on applicable baseball and softball strategies, skills, drills & coaching methods
  • Communicate with academy parents about the expectations, vision and facility/program updates
  • Meet revenue goals determined by the incumbent and Director of Athletic Operations
  • Coordinate and schedule practices, tournaments, and tryouts for academy teams
  • Provide a positive and encouraging atmosphere for all coaches and team members
  • Work with vendors to order apparel, uniforms, and equipment for the academy and baseball/softball events
  • Manage staff of coaches for both departments and complete payroll on a biweekly basis
  • Schedule staff
  • Provide top level service and communication to all customers
  • Create and maintain relationships with local fields, youth organizations, and school teams to mutually benefit the local baseball and softball communities and the Nook baseball and softball programs
  • All other duties as assigned


Basic Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of all rules and regulations that pertain to softball
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings and weekends
  • Ability to read, speak and understand the English language
  • Language skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Fluent knowledge of the English language; including the ability to read and interpret written information and speak and understand verbal communication
  • Ability to fulfill the physical requirements of the position with any reasonable accommodations as necessary
  • Dependable transportation to and from work
  • Authorized to work in the United States


Preferred Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 2 years of baseball or softball coaching experience
  • Supervisory baseball/softball experience preferred
  • Playing experience at the collegiate level
  • Highly dependable with a history of consistent attendance and punctuality

Working Conditions:

  • Work environment: Upbeat, high-energy sports and event complex with heavy foot traffic and frequent large crowds. This position will primarily work in an office environment.
  • Physical requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the team member will be regularly required to perform physical activity that includes moving about the work area, talking, hearing, standing, and sitting for long periods of time while working on a computer. He or she will frequently be required to bend, reach, lift, push and pull. The team member will be occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. He or she is required to have the visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.
  • Lifting requirements: The team member will be required to lift, push, pull, lower and/or move up to 25 lbs. regularly.
