Overview and purpose:

The Greene Family Camp Director has overall strategic and operational responsibility for all URJ youth-related relationships and activity in the Texas Oklahoma region. The Camp Director is responsible for all aspects of Greene Family Camp, NFTY TOR and new partnerships and programs associated with the URJ Youth initiatives. In addition, the Camp Director will lead the Summer Camp program in partnership with GFC’s full-time professional leadership. The Camp Director is responsible for growing Greene’s reach to encompass all the Texas Oklahoma region. The Camp Director is in residence at camp during the summer and travels, on average 20 weekends a year.

You have an extensive successful experience in overseeing budgetary plans and have developed and implemented business initiatives to achieve organizational goals. You are an excellent supervisor and work tirelessly to develop, support and coach members of your team on an ongoing basis. You have experience leading boards and committees with lay leadership. You are a natural fundraiser and have successfully led capital and annual campaigns. You bring a ‘whatever it takes” mentality and are ready to roll up your sleeves and work in a variety of ways to help push URJ Greene Family Camp and the URJ forward.

What you’ll do as our Camp Director:

Leadership:

  • Actively engage and energize Greene board members, volunteers, alumni, partnering organizations, and funders
  • Develop, maintain, and support a strong camp committee: seek and build lay involvement with strategic direction for ongoing local operations
  • Lead, coach, develop, and retain Greene’s high-performance senior management, assistant director, and support teams
  • Ensure effective systems to track progress, and regularly evaluate program components, to measure successes that can be effectively communicated to the board, funders, and other constituents
  • Ensure ongoing local programmatic excellence, rigorous program evaluation, and consistent quality of finance and administration, fundraising, communications, and systems; recommend timelines and resources needed to achieve the strategic goals

Business Management

  • Oversee annual budgetary plans to accomplish strategic direction and assure fiscal integrity.

Fundraising & Communications

  • Expand local revenue generating and fundraising activities to support existing and expanded program operations.
  • Develop funding model for financial sustainability
  • Deepen and refine all aspects of communications—from web presence to external relations with the goal of creating a stronger brand
  • Use external presence and relationships to garner new opportunities

Planning & New Business

  • Develop and implement a strategic business planning process for the program expansion into new markets
  • Continue to build partnerships in new markets, establishing relationships with the funders, and political and community leaders throughout the region.
  • Be an external local and national presence that publishes and communicates program results with an emphasis on the successes of the local program as a model for regional and national replication
  • In partnership with North American headquarters, implement evaluation and measurement strategies
  • Plan Capital Needs of the Camp property and facility. Work with URJ to design and budget for new, improved, or enhanced buildings and grounds

What You’ll Bring:

  • Master’s degree (preferred) in a relevant field
  • 10-plus years of relevant professional experience
  • Demonstrated ability to move from vision to action and the ability to articulate, motivate and inspire around mission
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; must be able to articulate, in an inspiring fashion, the mission of the camp and URJ to a wide variety of different audiences and stakeholders
  • Board development and fundraising skills
  • Solid and demonstrable understanding of organization finances, budgeting and planning
  • Outstanding people management skills
  • A working knowledge of office software applications including but not limited to office 365, Salesforce, and CampMinder
  • Familiarity with the standards of the American Camping Association (ACA) required
  • Must have driver’s license.
