Columbia Academy is currently seeking a Preschool Assistant Director to work with Infants through Pre-K children. You will work as part of a diverse team that cultivates a loving, nurturing, learning environment for the children in our care and their families.
Responsibilities of the Preschool Assistant Director are:
- Support the school mission and goals
- Support the Preschool Director to motivate, engage and develop a strong team
- Support the Preschool Director with implementation of school policies, procedures and regulations
- Assist the Preschool Director with monitoring school enrollment
- Assist the Preschool Director to create an aesthetically pleasing and positive environment for staff, parents and students
- Maintain compliance with Maryland State Department of Education and Licensing standards
- Maintain student records according to MSDE and Licensing standards
- Maintain family accounts posting charges and payments and ensuring accuracy of accounts
- Cordially greet parents and visitors to the school
- Develop appropriate relationships and maintain good rapport with staff, parents, and students
- Demonstrate enthusiasm and dedication to early childhood education
- Meet schedules and deadlines
- Conduct classroom observations
- Exercise appropriate decision making
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Preferred Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Child Development or a closely related field
- 90 Hour Child Care Certification
- 45 Hour Infant and Toddler Certification
- Deep love for children with a strong commitment to education
- Demonstrated knowledge of various stages of social, emotional and intellectual development
- Excellent leadership skills and demonstrated managerial competence
- Ability to guide staff in implementing a developmentally appropriate curriculum
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Highly organized with effective time management skills
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and changing situations effectively
- Attention to Detail
- Proficient in use of a desktop computer and able to learn different software applications
- Experience using Procare a plus
- Physical ability for activities with children, i.e. jump, dance, walk, and run
- Minimum of two years experience working in Early Childhood Education
- Minimum of one year of supervisory experience in Early Childhood Education
