The VP of IT Applications will be responsible for leading the Applications team (JD Edwards and other software) who program, develop and analyze the various software used to operate our business. The VP of IT Applications is also responsible collaborating and establishing an IT strategy and plan that allows the overall company to grow and become more and more profitable.

This newly created position will structure and lead our Applications team to be more innovative and creative. Future projects will include enhanced e-commerce, customer portal, BI tool, improved scanning, improved website, and user friendly document work flow solutions.


Essential Functions:

  • Leadership: Continue our tradition of providing excellent leadership in developing and mentoring all members of the SDA IT team members including management of both local and remotely based team members.
  • Internal SDA Collaboration: Work closely with each business function to understand current and future IT needs and develop plans to address those needs. This will require monthly trips to Lawrence, KS facility and other trips to Door Centers.
  • Customer Experience: Increase our focus on improving the customer experience for both internal and external customers.
  • Innovation: Attend trade association meeting, read IT Applications publications, etc. to stay abreast of the most current software innovations and solutions.
  • Accountability: Improve our rate of speed in development and implementation new projects. Improve our communication of project plans and timelines and holding the respective teams accountable for completing tasks, projects and testing on-time and within our agreed upon budget.
  • Inter-divisional collaboration: Continue our practice of working with the ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems divisional team to define and support IT strategies. Secure the migration and transition to common global infrastructure standards.
  • Drive PMO including project methodologies and tools to align with divisional PMO
  • Transparency –
    • Continue to communicate effectively and educate all users on IT related strategies, plans, and achievement of goals.
    • Continue to maintain performance metrics for all functions performed within the department to ensure productivity and efficiency gains are met.
  • Participate as a key member of the SDA executive strategic planning group.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Ten years of experience with JD Edwards, SQL, Microsoft/SharePoint, EDI, ERP and DRP REQUIRED.
  • Five years of experience with IT operations, data centers, and networks preferred but not required (this is primarily an Applications role, but there will be interaction with the Operations team).
  • Five years of experience managing teams exceeding 5 people required.
  • Overnight, extended, and some international travel required.
