Position Overview:
Education
The Variation Reduction Project Manager works with the Chief Medical Office, VP, Director, Program Manager, Project Managers, leadership from our hospitals, physician organizations and IPAs, staff, physicians and other Sutter Health colleagues to develop, launch and monitor Variation Reduction projects. Variation Reduction is a change methodology that works to engage physicians and provides them with a respectful and effective process to eliminate unwarranted variation with the goal of improving both quality and affordability. The main focus of the position is performing complex analytics using raw data from Sutter Health’s electronic medical record to help physicians address clinical variation in practice and then managing projects designed to achieve the Sutter Health’s goal of consistently superb and affordable health care – where and when patients need it.
Qualifications:
Education
- Bachelor’s degree is required or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Specific training in quality improvement methodology or project management is
preferred
- Master’s level training in public health, healthcare administration, nursing, or
business is preferred
Experience / Knowledge
- Thorough knowledge of health care delivery, project management, and quality
improvement (i.e., six sigma, lean, PDSA cycle or other commonly used
improvement methods) is preferred
- Experience analyzing health care data is required
- Demonstrated ability in leading or facilitating teams preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Outlook required
Special Skills
- Conceptual, analytical, negotiation, and problem solving skills are critical
- Exceptional communications skills, both oral and written are required
- Effective presentation skills required
- Ability to gain cooperation and support through effective use of influence and persuasion required
- Must demonstrate a strong customer service focus in all decisions and actions
- Must be detail oriented, self directed, and able to work with minimal supervision
