The University Hospital of Brooklyn (UHB), a hospital-based clinical network within the SUNY Downstate Medical Center campus in Central Brooklyn seeks a Senior Associate Vice President (SAVP). Reporting to the SVP Hospital Administrator in collaboration with the Downstate Health Sciences Universityâs CFO, the SAVP will provide financial stewardship and direction for the hospital-based clinical network, achieving operational and strategic goals and initiatives in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
Brief Description of Duties:
The SAVP will provide effective business leadership, strategy development, internal control, operating and capital budget development, monitoring and effective use of information technology, and will perform, but not limited to, the following:
– Plan, organize and manage the financial operations of hospital-based clinical entities, including financial planning, budgeting, analysis, and revenue cycle functions.
– Proactively advise and educate management about financial aspects and impacts on clinical operations and services.
– Develop, interpret and communicate hospital polices for finance, accounting, budgeting, insurance, financial/accounting systems, reimbursement and revenue cycle, internal controls and auditing.
– Provide input to and support financial initiatives to support hospital-based clinical operations.
– Ensure hospital compliance with planning deadlines and SUNY and State reporting requirements.

Qualifications:
REQUIRED:
– A Masterâs Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business/Public Administration, or related health discipline, and/or CPA certification with a minimum of 10 years of progressive, responsible management experience, 7 years of which must be as an SAVP, Controller or financial executive.
– Must possess excellent communication skills.
– Experience with NYS and SUNY accounting principles and systems.
– Recent experience with a large, urban academic medical center, hospital, or public healthcare system is desirable.
– 5 years of public accounting experience and knowledge of Managed Care contract negotiations preferred.
