- Heavy Civil Concrete Project Manager
Project managers are responsible for the planning and oversight of multiple construction projects simultaneously utilizing both hands-on and administrative techniques. They are responsible for managing client expectations and building long-term relationships with new and existing clients. The project manager must balance multiple conflicting priorities while providing technical information, presence in the field, and support to field staff maximizing time and resources that lead to increased value to clients.
Project Duties
- Manage client expectations
- Work with the client from the start of each project to ensure clarity of the project scope and vision
- Secure permitting, arrange for blue stake, etc.
- Meet project scope requirements within budget and schedule
- Prepare project schedule and budget and update documentation as needed
- Manage project scope efficiently while providing value added innovations
- Collaborate with other project team members for constructability reviews
- Manage a diverse, project-based workforce – verify timesheet and expense reporting
- Train staff on new jobs
- Make effective work assignments at the right staff level
- Conduct meetings on-site with owners, designers, field crew
- Negotiate with vendors, suppliers and subcontractors
- Verify and approve invoices from subcontractors and suppliers
- Process change orders, if required or negotiate with client on scope changes/additions
- Pursue additional client work
- Coordinate resource needs with company President
- Communicate regularly with VP of Pre-construction, President and BD Manager
- Manage all aspects related to the execution of the project including safety, quality control and project integrity
- Provide accurate project revenue and cost financial forecasting
- Prepare accurate construction cost budgets and cost proposals
- Interact with both Estimating and Operations teams, ensuring proper reviews and processes are strictly adhered to while maintaining DBA’s business model and principles
- Generate invoices, project close-out documentation
Tools Utilized
- HCSS – Project estimating, Budgeting
- Microsoft Excel – Tracking quantities, take-offs, man hours, budget conversions, proposals, invoicing, data resourcing, WIPS
- Microsoft Word – RFIs, Submittals
- ComputerEase – tracking costs, invoicing, WIPS
- Google Earth – takeoffs, dimensions, site directions, overall site evaluation,
- Microsoft Project – Schedules (job schedule, 3 week look ahead, etc.)
- Time Sheets – Daily time keeping, recording of accurate hours and costs
- PPE – Appropriate personal protective equipment including, hard hat, safety vest, steel toed boots, eye protection, hearing protection, including additional safety items as required.
