The Lean Six Sigma (LSS) Project Manager will be responsible for identifying and managing improvement opportunities for key operational and clinical initiatives. Under the direction of the System Director of Operations Improvement, this position will plan and manage projects related to: improving processes through decreasing variation, cost and cycle times; enhancing safety and identifying and promoting evidenced based operation and clinical performance.
Required Skills
- Lead and manage projects related to strategic initiatives and operational priorities to achieve MHSâs mission and strategic objectives, create strong project momentum, and build stakeholder ownership.
- Provides project management oversight for multiple projects across MHS. Serves in the capacity of a change leadership agent.
- Provides internal consulting services to organizational leaders and physicians regarding best demonstrated practices, and industry benchmarks.
- Provides process management, project support and assistance in facilitation of organizational performance improvement, statistical analysis, and process improvement consultation to leaders across the health system.
- Works with senior and system leadership team, system directors, managers and any other assigned parties to help identify and scope project opportunities within their departments or given areas based on system and department goals, financial savings opportunities, or performance opportunities.
- Apply Six Sigma techniques and Lean methodology expertise at assigned facility to improve operational efficiency and quality.
- Assist organizational leaders with the prioritization of opportunities in an assigned value stream to achieve performance excellence through the reduction or elimination of process or outcome variation.
- Seeks opportunities to mentor and manage individuals in the use of quality improvement methodologies and safety tools and techniques.
- Encourages professional and personal growth of staff through the participation and involvement of in-services and educational programs, and keeping current with reading industry related literature.
- Designs and delivers Lean Six Sigma education throughout the health system.
- Define competitive repositioning opportunities at the system-wide, core-process level and redesign operations to deliver new and improved services.
- Performs other related work as required or requested.

Required Experience
Education:
Bachelorâs degree in Business, Management Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Organizational Behavior, or related field required. Graduate level degree in an applicable discipline and direct patient care (clinical) experience highly desired.
Licensure/Certification/Registry:
Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification required within six months of hire.
Experience:
- Two to three (2-3) years experience leading system wide project implementations required, with priority given to LEAN/DMAIC projects highly desired.
- Experience leading projects directed at improving health outcomes, patient safety, and productivity management.
- Experience with the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award Health Care criteria desired.
