Trusted Media Brands is seeking a Head of PR & Communications to spearhead efforts to surface new and noteworthy company initiatives to press. Communication priorities will serve both B2C and B2C news outlets. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Lead PR projects as they support umbrella brand (Trusted Media Brands) and “big three” brands (Taste of Home, Reader’s Digest, The Family Handyman), as well as potential projects for other Trusted Media Brands products; present PR activities to all appropriate internal stakeholders to obtain sign-off and alignment in strategy
- Partner with organizational departments, including marketing, advertising sales, editorial/digital, to create/support strategic PR programming (trade and consumer) that publicizes appropriate Trusted Media Brands campaigns, products and activities
- Manage PR agency, ensuring that all activities directly support overarching PR strategy
- Serve as liaison between PR agency and key internal stakeholders at Trusted Media Brands
- Lead all strategy planning and monthly/quarterly reporting of all PR-supported initiatives
- Handle crisis communications on an as needed basis: media inquiries, messaging, etc.
- Draft and contribute to news press releases, media Q&As with C-suite executives, bylines, speeches, media responses and corporate website content, such as executive bios, mission statements, etc.
- Handle media inquiries, including those that come from outside sources and PR agencies
- Handle time-sensitive and deadline-driven activities within Trusted Media Brands
- Assist with managing other projects, agencies and activities, as necessary
- Manage PR budget and PR Coordinator
Qualifications:
- Minimum 10+ years of experience in PR industry with strong relationships with national and local media outlets
- Strong project management skills: ability to drive multiple brand initiatives across different timelines
- Excels at building cross-functional relationships and expertise in galvanizing key stakeholders for strategic corporate initiatives
- Strong corporate communications background preferred
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; ability to “manage up” and communicate clearly and succinctly with C-level executives
- Proven experience with handling media inquiries from trade and consumer publications important
- Proven track record of successfully managing and working with outside PR agencies
- Ability to manage multiple projects and PR budget
- Excellent problem-solving and multi-tasking skills; solution-oriented
- Ability to work within fast-paced deadline driven environment
- Flexibility with schedule and hours to meet project deadlines a must
