This position will lead corporate, critical issues, legal and licensing and risk and reputation management on the communications team. The role is ultimately responsible for guiding Spotify’s global corporate communications strategy, including the planning and execution of activities to foster greater understanding of the company’s business strategy and corporate narrative, while focusing on mitigating risk and enhancing and promoting Spotify’s reputation with priority external audiences.
What you’ll do
- Collaborate closely with top executives and other leaders to help define Spotify’s reputational platforms and develop an external communications strategy to complement those platforms with a focus on proactive storytelling
- Advise company leadership on issues related to public perception of, expectations from and reaction to company activities
- Manage risk audit and related activity, convening critical parties across the business
- Propose and develop media and public relations plans designed to achieve or to contribute to the achievement of corporate communications strategy
- Maintain high level of knowledge about corporate strategy and be proactive about proposing communications solutions to business challenges
- Manage teams responsible for financial communications, including quarterly earnings and M&A activity, as well as brand and ad sales, legal and licensing
- Write and edit internal and external communications that help Spotify share its perspective in clear and compelling ways
- Build strong and trusted relationships with key internal clients throughout Spotify, providing unique insights and problem-solving counsel, expanding our communications team’s engagement from tactical to strategic
- Manage traditional and social listening programs and research as needed
- Exemplify Spotify’s mission and values in daily work
- Provide ongoing feedback and input to the formal performance/review process for team members reporting to you
- Direct outside agencies as necessary to achieve communications objectives
Who you are / What you have
- Minimum of 10-15 years relevant communications with direct experience working in Corporate PR with a focus on corporate reputation, critical issues, risk mitigation and public affairs — ideally in the digital, media, entertainment, music or tech industries
- Strategic thinker with the ability to work in a fast paced, global environment; public company preferable
- Proven ability to develop and execute strategic PR campaigns
- Solid media contacts and relationships in financial, entertainment, music and tech community
- Well-versed in narrative, storytelling, communications channels and writing for a variety of audiences
- Motivated self-starter with hands-on attitude
- Team player who thinks and acts globally, even when directly dealing with a local challenges
- Ability to multitask and work in a hectic and extremely fast moving industry and environment without sacrificing attention to detail
- Ability to work across all levels, no task is too big or too small
- Ability to effectively manage and professionally develop team members across the globe
- Strong project management and agency management skills
- Excellent organisational skills
- Ability to travel internationally
