Job Summary

The Project Managers position oversees every facet of energy efficiency and weatherization projects from the office and the field to ensure the on-time and on-budget completion of each project. Works closely with vendors/suppliers, subcontractors, owners, third-party professions, Energy Solutions team members and other stakeholders to meet expected project quality, site safety and project timelines efficiently and within scope and budget. The position requires oversight of operational, human resource, and financial objectives and outcomes in accordance with the requirements of funding programs. Initiative and prioritization skills and the ability to work with multiple competing demands in a fast-paced ambiguous environment are vital to this position. Working hours may vary, but customary hours are Monday –Friday from 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM with one-hour lunch break, with occasional evening/weekend hours and 0vernight travel required


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop deliverable schedules as a roadmap for contractors, stakeholders and applicable staff
  • Assist in the hiring of subcontractors and other third-party related professionals for each job
  • Create and negotiate contract agreements and change orders with subcontractors
  • Assist in scope writing for each trade and subtrade
  • Ensure project requirements are met while ensuring quality, cost and time are managed efficiently
  • Establishes and maintains strong working relationships with governmental agencies and private contractors.
  • Ensure materials needed are available for the project when needed.
  • Ensure staff receives the proper training to fulfill job requirements
  • Issue weekly progress reports and weekly email reports to Supervisor
  • Other duties as assigned by VP consistent with required skill set and customary tasks of position.

  • Ability to communicate effectively (both verbally and in writing) with employees at all levels of the organization, vendors, owners, inspectors, government officials, subcontractors and other stakeholders.
  • Applied knowledge of computers and computer software applications, including but not limited to Microsoft Office software, MS Project, and Smartsheet or other project management software
  • Knowledge of Weatherization Assistance Program Standard Work Specifications and building science acumen, including residential heating and cooling system components, air sealing, and insulation.
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license and driving record consistent with current CHP insurability guidelines.


Education and/or Experience

  • High School degree or GED required; Associate or bachelor’s degree in Construction Trades/Building Technology, or Building Science related field preferred.
  • Excellent computer skills and thorough knowledge of MS Office applications required.
  • Certifications and/or training in building science related courses preferred, ie:BPI, RESNET or LEED.
  • Minimum two years of prior managerial and/or project management experience required.
  • Combination of experience and education deemed suitable to encompass necessary body of knowledge and technical skills


Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements:

The employee must possess:

  • Ability to lift/carry/manipulate loads up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • Ability to stand, stoop, kneel, crouch in order to enter confined spaces such as crawlspaces, attics to inspect work performed by technicians.
  • Visual acuity to perform detailed inspections and read fine print both electronically and in print.
  • Hearing and verbal acuity to convey verbal commands and instruction and/or receive feedback and hear concerns from employees, clients, and customers.
  • Ability to climb ladders or steps to reach objects and inspect work at heights greater than ten feet.
  • Ability to travel on foot successfully across rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces.
  • Ability to withstand exposure to noise, dust or common environmental chemicals or fumes.
  • Able to work safely in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to the outdoor elements.
  • Ability to travel frequently by automobile, sometimes for long stretches, to various job sites.

Employee shall adhere to OSHA safety standards and established company safety protocols and utilize any safety equipment prescribed for particular operations and cause any employees whose work he/she is inspecting to comply with said standards and protocols. The employee should not assume that the company or supervisor is aware of potential safety hazards, and the employee has a duty to report any environmental hazards or if a health or safety concern arises, or to cause corrective action if environmental hazards/health safety concerns are reported by coworkers.
