The director – talent is responsible for the leadership and management of a team of recruitment professionals that is centered on service and process excellence. The talent team is an integral part of Nordic’s operations and the pipeline through which employees join Nordic. This role is responsible for recommending and executing candidate sourcing strategies, showcasing Nordic’s employment brand and culture, as well as overseeing departmental metrics and budgeting. This individual will partner closely with other talent team leaders, as well as marketing, human resources, and hiring managers in order to recruit the best candidates and provide them with a positive and seamless candidate experience.
Key Responsibilities
The director – talent will be responsible for, but not be limited to

  • Working directly with departmental and functional leadership to participate, implement, and oversee the strategic direction and vision for the talent team
  • Directly managing, coaching, and leading team members as they source and manage the candidate pipeline and grow their careers with Nordic
  • Acting as a liaison for candidates in order to effectively facilitate communication with hiring teams and maintaining relationships on an ongoing basis
  • Defining and managing team performance metrics, working closely with other departments to ensure success in reaching goals, building candidate pipelines, and optimizing team performance
  • Collaborating with other departments to ensure knowledge of and understanding of competitor landscape as it pertains to candidates
  • Ensuring talent team goals are aligned with company vision and achieved
  • Recommending talent management solutions to departmental leaders that empower our organization to make better talent decisions
  • Partnering with human resources and operational leaders to build internal mobility for advancing team members and creating programs to enhance the pipeline of diverse candidates
  • Working with talent team members to regularly review and improve departmental processes and to resolve any escalations related to sourcing strategy, candidate pipeline, satisfaction, and quality
  • Partnering with other departmental leaders to ensure sufficient volume and quality of pipeline as well as to identify efficiencies between departments
  • Developing and maturing Nordic’s employment brand and continuing to find new avenues for candidate engagement while working to uphold and strengthen Nordic’s corporate culture
  • Developing plans to ensure scalability of processes, procedures, and technology with a focus on results, profitability, and health for the company
  • Advising on merger and acquisition talent team requirements and resources
  • Identifying and maintaining strategic relationships with professional organizations and the community to aid in achieving business goals
  • Researching recruiting and industry-related topics and seeking professional development by attending seminars, trade shows, and other pertinent events to help grow the business and stay abreast of the latest trends, technology, regulations, and news
  • Working on projects that may be assigned on an ad hoc basis and assisting in other corporate initiatives as necessary

Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
  • 5+ years’ experience in sourcing and recruiting; high-volume, fast-paced recruitment experience strongly preferred
  • 3+ years’ experience leading service-oriented teams and fostering a positive and productive workplace culture required
  • Experience building entry-level/campus recruitment programs preferred
  • Mergers and acquisitions as well as international exposure a plus
  • Experience using a CRM (customer relationship) or ATS (applicant tracking) system required; experience implementing systems strongly preferred
  • Exceptional attention to detail but with the ability to synthesize details for hiring leaders
  • Excellent organization, time management, and communication skills to balance multiple priorities and expected results
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve conflicts through effective collaboration by seeking mutually beneficial outcomes while providing thoughtful and well-reasoned opinions and feedback
  • Proven ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization as well as with diverse candidates
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changes in the work environment and to alter approach or method to successfully lead change
  • Advanced experience with the Microsoft Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint, as well as LinkedIn, ATS, and job board posting technologiesCompensation and Additional Details
  • Position is located at our home office in Madison, WI
  • Occasional travel up to 10 percent of the time
