JOB SUMMARY:
This position has three main responsibilities:
- Define, implement, and maintain a dynamic risk control framework & process that is consistent with the company’s evolving risk management objectives & risk appetite – including: (a) identifying significant commodity & treasury risk exposures (e.g. grains, energy, fresh meats, counterparty credit, currency, interest rate); (b) quantifying risk exposures (e.g. VaR, CFaR, option Greeks, stress tests, sensitivities, scenario/back-testing analyses); and (c) tracking & reporting compliance with company’s commodity & treasury risk policies & limits.
- Advise key stakeholders (e.g. Risk Committee, commodity purchasing & sourcing depts, business units, treasury dept), provide analytical support regarding company’s commodity & treasury risk management activities (e.g. hedging program effectiveness, appropriate policies & limits), and coordinate effective communication between front-office & back-office.
- Perform required technical administration to enable the company’s commodity, currency, and interest rate hedging activities – including coordinating: (a) Risk-related input re pending new trading & risk management software implementation for commodities & currencies; (b) CME compliance tracking & reporting; (c) OTC swap regulatory compliance; and (d) ISDA contract & brokerage agreement negotiation & execution.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: MS or MBA or equivalent experience in statistics, mathematics, operations research, economics, finance, engineering or related field.
Experience: 5 plus years minimum in commodity trading and or risk management environment within agriculture, energy, equities or fixed income. Broad knowledge and thorough understanding of derivatives and options as well as understanding of drivers that impact valuation. Working knowledge of hedge accounting (e.g. FASB ASC 815).
Computer Skills: Advanced Excel modeling skill and experience in database development and operation. VBA programming in Excel and SQL programming a plus. Experience using statistical software and trading risk management systems (including OpenLink, Endur, or OpenLink, Rightangle).
Travel: 1 to 2 domestic trips per year
Supervisory Responsibilities: None.
Special skills: Must be able to articulate complex model concepts to diverse audience of Tyson management.
