This role is a key member of the Leadership Team to their assigned business unit(s) and is accountable for achievement of operating goals and strategic objectives by providing sound financial forecasting, accounting and performance management. This role assumes primary responsibility for driving effective P&L processes, monitoring and results through strategically driven decision making. It provides critical oversight to business performance, variance identification, corrective action tracking, and ongoing priority setting to achieve profitable growth and retention.
Job Duties include but are not limited to:
- Leads and directs enrollment forecasting and reporting capabilities to meet business goals
- Leads and directs financial forecasting, management controls, and reporting. This encompasses planning, forecasting and management reporting to evaluate financial performance in order to meet business goals, management of business unit strategy, and oversight and alignment of financial performance with the Business Unit goals
- Manages financial forecasting, controllership and monitoring & evaluation of Medicare segment under alternative scenarios in support of strategy, business planning, operational planning, and other business decision-making opportunities
- Accountable for providing timely and accurate financial forecasting to the Business Unit CFO. This may include financial modeling for market strategy and planning, economic uncertainty, health care reform, and other market or regulatory impacts
- Delivers and interprets high impact financial and market data to leadership team to drive prioritization of objectives, resources, and budget
- Informs and influences stakeholders in effective shared service and other contractual decisions that achieve cost and customer satisfaction drivers
- Responsible for leading financial performance analysis to include:
o Development of financial performance targets by plan and geography
o Analyzes, interprets and acts on emerging issues, and quickly identifies and implements solutions in partnership with business partners
o Ensuring Business Unit leadership accountability for financial plans, underlying assumptions, and effective implementation of corrective actions for deviations from financial plans
o Executing business planning as a Finance leadership team member, through appropriate collaboration, coordination, communication and relationship management with business partners
o Supporting innovation, channel strategy, and other drivers that enable profitable growth potential at a strategic and tactical level
o Analyzes, interprets and acts on emerging issues, and quickly identifies and implements solutions in partnership with business partners
o Ensuring Business Unit leadership accountability for financial plans, underlying assumptions, and effective implementation of corrective actions for deviations from financial plans
o Executing business planning as a Finance leadership team member, through appropriate collaboration, coordination, communication and relationship management with business partners
o Supporting innovation, channel strategy, and other drivers that enable profitable growth potential at a strategic and tactical level
Job Requirements:
- Bachelorâs degree or additional related equivalent work experience
- 6+ years related work experience or equivalent combination of transferable experience and education
- 3+ years direct supervisory/management experience
- Strong P&L and strategic and business planning experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of financial analysis techniques, including capability ROI, and performance controllership
- Knowledge of Commercial P&L levers, including risk scores, medical management techniques, and value-based provider arrangements
- General knowledge of actuarial, finance, and accounting practices
- Exceptional Business Acumen in the healthcare industry
- Excellent communication and executive presentation skills
- Strong influencing, collaboration/relationship building competencies
- Proven track record on delivering on strategic and financial objectives
- Ability to communicate, educate, and present detailed financial information in a concise manner that is understood by all levels of management
Preferred:
- Masterâs degree in a related field
- Actuarial designation (ASA or FSA)
- Consultative experience
- CPA designation
- Experience in forecasting/analysis applications
