DATA DIRECTOR JOB DESCRIPTION OVERVIEW:
The Director acts as the primary business point of contact to manage the business between intake, support, and small enhancements. This includes activities associated with managing relationships with the vertical leadership team, collaborating between Data Solution Team and the Architecture team, maintaining the operation level agreements between Data Solutions and Architecture as well as planning, requirements handling and issues management. This individual serves as the escalation mechanism to assist in contacting the responsible group within the Data teams to ensure adequate support is provided when an reporting and analytic solutions have an existing or potential problem.
DATA DIRECTOR QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelors Degree required or equivalent work experience.
- 10+ years Technical and Leadership Experience
- Experience interfacing with C-Level Executives required.
- Proven development experience and leadership of SQL Server Technologies (SSIS, SSAS, SSRS)
- Reporting platforms and solutions (Cognos, Tableau, MicroStrategy)
- Data Platforms (Oracle, SQL Server, Netezza, Cloud, Hadoop
- Leadership and core business/interpersonal skills.
- Successful project management experience.
- Ability to establish relationships with Business Teams.
- Strong PC skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
- IT Outsourcing experience preferred
- Excellent documentation skills and attention to detail. Enjoys making things
- Ability to deliver technical presentations using business language of what happened and how it was resolved
- Able to produce and deliver relevant and effective training as needed
- VLDB experience with Data Warehouses solutions, Data models, and reporting solutions
- Familiar with or desire to understand Big Data platforms
DATA DIRECTOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Minimum 10 years relevant work experience Technical background ideally within Data Warehouse, Data Services, Operations, and IT outsourcing industry

- Pulling in additional resources when needed e.g. specialist teams or people for specific issues /opportunities
- Removing all obstacles to customer satisfaction and / or financial performance
- Communicating across organizational boundaries – from engineers through to senior managers
- 3rd party management responsibilities
- Following up if service delivery is not meeting expectations
- Working with the client and operations teams to identify and manage service improvement activities
- Along with operational managers and technical leads, accountable for and contribute to the overall performance of the data services department
- Ability to follow hardware and software best practices as defined by the Data Solution and Architecture teams
