Honeywell Aerospace innovates and integrates thousands of products, software and services to advance and more easily deliver safe, efficient, productive and comfortable transportation experiences worldwide. Their offerings are found on virtually every commercial, defense and space aircraft. 2018 revenues for Aerospace are around 12B.

The Role
Reporting to the President & CEO of Aerospace and Honeywell Chief Technology Officer, the CTO, Aerospace is responsible for leading the global technology/engineering team and building relationships with customers [OEM’s, Airlines and Aftermarket customers] and clients. S/he will lead and direct all technology and R&D activities for the business to drive innovation and deliver products, technologies and solutions that meet customer innovation needs. The CTO, Aerospace will lead globally distributed design centers to differentiate Honeywell’s offerings.

The priorities of the Chief Technology Officer, Aerospace include:
Drive on-time delivery of high impact new product introductions

Drive Robust Design to Manufacturing & Flawless launch maturity with strong interlock with ISC and AME organization
Maintain customer commitments, balance risks vs. opportunities and challenge the status quo
Rationalize and restructure the engineering team as needed to identify and fill ability gaps
Collaborate with Connected Enterprise SBG to further value-add functionality across the portfolio and meet customer Digital Innovation needs.
Lead transformation efforts relative to NPD process leveraging Z21 [Zero to 1st Revenue] and Agile headset to drive innovation
Coordinate and manage global design / technology centres to drive innovation, execution and quality. Balance cost and time to market by constantly investing in new skills and capabilities in key markets.

Lead talent development initiatives including Honeywell Performance Development (HPD), Management Resource Review (MRR) and Technical Resource Readiness (TRR) processes. Ensure employee satisfaction and safety.
Recognize the efforts of the team, continually develop people and make the “team” the customer’s best known/best valued asset.
Continuously Redefine the physical footprint of the engineering organization

Role Location
The role will be based out of Aerospace HQ (Phoenix, AZ)

Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will have relevant experience in Aerospace engineering for products / connected products. Experience in Aviation industry w/ extensive product (NPI) and technology development is critical
In addition, we are looking for a leader who can drive results and has excellent collaboration and influencing skills to work within Honeywell’s matrixed organization. S/he should be effective at working across business units, functions and at various levels and in a global environment. S/he should thrive in an intense, results oriented environment.

FUNCTIONAL EXPERIENCE MUST HAVE NICE TO HAVE
Engineering organization with global footprint AND / OR should have managed RDE spend >$1B 

Globally distributed teams serving both global OEM’s, After Market and Airlines 

Relevant years in Avionics [Electronics & Mechanical Subsystems] technology AND/OR materials technology development 
Technology & Product Development Experience 

Strong Engineering Product Development Practices, Processes and Tools 

Led product strategy transformation and acted as evangelist for change 

Industry Sector and Company Experience

Domain experience & exposure – Aerospace industry [Avionics, Mechanical & Connectivity], standards and regulations 

Hardware, Firmware and Software experience + Physical products connectivity to Cloud 

Understanding of regulatory agencies (FAA), standards, mandates and environments 

International Experience 

Education

Technical / Engineering degree

Bachelor of Science in Engineering – Mechanical, Electrical / Aviation or Aerospace
15+ years of experience in Applied and/or New Product or Technology Development 

Advanced degree in Engineering – Masters / Phd 

Proven experience and success in Pivoting the organization – Speed, Innovation and Agile [Right & FAST]
