They will collaborate across functions to deliver comprehensive and business-oriented solutions. This Finance leader has a key role in the overall governance of the business. The successful candidate will have experience leading a Finance team at a professional services firm, ideally within the consulting sector.
Responsibilities include general accounting, accounts receivable, accounts payable, financial planning, budgetary control, all taxation and audit processes, legal, and overall financial compliance. Responsibilities also include the development of consulting and business development opportunities and management of engagements.
Position Description:
- In collaboration with other executive staff, and departmental employees, develop, implement, maintain, and control the essential financial operations and processes of the organization
- Oversee and manage all aspects of the Finance department, including budget and forecast development, payroll, tax provision calculations, balance sheet and cash flow statement development, client invoicing, and month-close and year-end processes
- Set and articulate long-term financial strategy, goals and targets; participate in creation of annual business development and revenue strategies and targets with Executive Team
- Responsible for providing strategic recommendations related to revenue recognition, tax planning, employee stock compensation structure, capital investments, etc.
- Communicate financial results, key financial metrics and variance analysis to stakeholders, including members of our firm board of directors, and the finance committee of the board
- Ensure appropriate policies are in place to comply with all internal and regulatory requirements, including preparation of all official documents and filings
- Assist in client negotiations and contracting directly or by leveraging appropriate experts as needed
- Work with internal team members to ensure consistent reporting of the ROI and value we provide to clients and adjust product pricing accordingly
- Build and manage relationships with key executives and staff at client sites to ensure the success of the engagement(s), including maintenance of engagement through communication and project management/coordination with assigned clients and stakeholders
- Maintain deep, expert understanding of our firm’s service lines/offerings and differentiating factors with regard to main competitors. Build or refine tools, service lines and firm offerings as needed, based on current and future market demands
- Responsible for maintenance of quality and risk mitigation standards and plan for client accounts
- Drive business development through internal and external activities, including authoring articles, drafting and driving client proposals, writing case studies and white papers, attending and speaking at professional conferences, and supporting our Population Health Summits
- Develop, update and disseminate thought leadership documents related to areas of expertise
- Develop peer-reviewed articles, sales materials, case studies, internal curricula and trainings
- Represent the company, and client(s) as appropriate, at various professional networking, public relations, business development and fundraising events
- Ensure all account and direct reporting staff have a growth and development plan, and review all staff growth plans at biannual Staff Development meetings with Executive Team
- Attend company events, functions, conferences and meetings as necessary
- Carry out other duties, tasks and projects as assigned
Qualifications:
- Masterâs degree in Accounting or MBA preferred; active CPA required
- 10+ years of experience in a health care consulting role with corporate finance responsibilities strongly preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge of GAAP and technical accounting knowledge
- Strong understanding of forecasting and budgeting, and proven ability to hold others accountable to meet budget goals
- Strong problem-solving capabilities, both in ideation and execution
- Highly analytical, rigorous and detail-oriented
- Strong interpersonal skills; experience in managing senior key stakeholder relationships
- High level of written and oral communication skills
- Experience and desire to train, motivate and lead diverse staff
- Ability to work effectively on multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
- High level of proficiency of Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
- Skills related to effective project management
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as necessary
- Ability to travel up to 80%
