The VPIA will provide leadership to a high-performing and dedicated team of approximately 20 members. S/He will be responsible for designing and implementing comprehensive institutional advancement programs and recruiting and developing talented team members who are focused on the ultimate goal of significantly increasing constituent involvement and fundraising outcomes. The advancement function includes responsibility for an annual fund, major gifts and gift planning, endowment growth, and comprehensive campaigns, as well as alumni and constituent relations efforts, stewardship, and advancement services. In addition, the VPIA will oversee the celebration of the College’s centennial celebration activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Designs, implements, and manages the College’s fundraising plans, strategies, events, and activities to achieve fiscal objectives. This includes, but is not limited to, enhancing the College’s alumni relations and giving, annual giving, corporate and foundation giving and outreach, major and planned giving, capital campaigns, and other special projects and initiatives.
  • Conceptualizes, creates, and articulates a strategic plan for the College’s advancement program, including leading the public phase of a comprehensive campaign and all events in celebration of the institution’s 100th anniversary.
  • Serves as a member of the College’s senior leadership team, working closely with vice presidents, other administrators, trustees, faculty, and alumni to provide insight, guidance, and judgment on the full range of issues, challenges, and opportunities facing the College.
  • Recruits, professionally develops, motivates, and reviews Advancement team members to develop a strong culture of collaboration, participation, and high morale. Manages a staff of approximately 20 with seven direct reports.
  • Works closely the President, the Board of Trustees, senior College leadership, and high-level volunteers on all aspects of their involvement in advancement and philanthropic efforts. This will include frequent cultivation and solicitation visits with the President.
  • Creates, manages, cultivates, solicits, and stewards the highest level of prospective and current donors.
  • Prepares and administers all departmental budgets, management controls, policies, and procedures related to the College’s advancement functions.
  • Undertakes other duties as assigned.


Job Requirements:

  • A minimum of five to seven years of successful hands-on, frontline fundraising experience.
  • A track record of creative, innovative, direct solicitation of gifts at the six- and seven-figure level.
  • A Bachelor’s degree, with an advanced degree preferred.
  • A Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) preferred.
  • Superb communication skills, including the stature and demeanor to represent the College to a wide range of constituents.
  • A track record of increasingly responsible, successful leadership and management, with a commitment to mentoring staff and professional development.
  • Comprehensive campaign leadership and management experience.
  • A strong grasp of and commitment to best practices in all areas of advancement.
  • Unquestioned integrity, impeccable judgment, a commitment to diversity and inclusion in all its forms, and a sense of humor.
  • Ability for regional, national, and international travel.
