Position:
Opportunity Fund is growing and needs a motivated and adaptable individual to serve as the Vice President, Compliance for the Small Business Lending organization. This role is responsible for Opportunity Fund’s Compliance program, including day-to-day administrative, lending and operational compliance activities, as well as advising management and other personnel on compliance issues, assisting in establishing controls, and leading strategic compliance initiatives. The VP, Compliance will work on a wide variety of compliance-related matters involving small business lending and lead all areas of the compliance program. This position will also be responsible for supervising Compliance staff.
Major Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement and administer Opportunity Fund’s Compliance Management System (CMS)
- Enhance the Third-Party Risk Management Program with vendor due diligence, contract requirements, and ongoing compliance audits of critical third-parties
- Provide day-to-day compliance support to the business units
- Develop and maintain written compliance policies and procedures, including an annual review, via PolicyTech (Opportunity Fund’s policy portal) covering state and federal lending regulations, FCRA, TCPA, privacy and data security, FDCPA and other applicable regulations
- Monitor compliance and conduct compliance testing
- Maintain and update Compliance Risk Assessment
- Prepare for and respond to regulatory inquiries and examinations
- Assist with internal audits
- Review marketing materials
- Utilize current issue management tracking systems to report potentially systemic issues
- Provide non-legal advice and regulatory guidance in connection with the development of new products
- Conduct compliance specific trainings to employees
- Oversee Opportunity Fund’s regulatory filings and relevant internal and client certifications
- Provide ongoing hands-on support and execution with respect to all critical ad-hoc compliance projects, as needed
- Keep informed of ongoing regulatory developments and changes in applicable law and regulations
- Key contributor to Opportunity Fund’s Compliance Strategic Plan
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field
- 10+ years of compliance experience with financial institution or compliance consulting practice
- Familiarity with lending operations and knowledge of lending regulations
- Experience managing and training a small team
- Strong ownership mentality with exceptional resourcefulness and drive for results
- Solutions oriented
- Organized, detail-oriented with an analytical mindset to deliver key insights on complex compliance and business matters
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to engage and work effectively with senior business management and staff in multiple locations
- Ability to manage and effectively influence while providing advice and guidance
- Ability to effectively prioritize work and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong work ethic, time management skills and the ability to work independently to produce deliverables on tight deadlines
- Advanced finance, business, or law degree a plus
- CRCM preferred

This position is located in San Jose, San Francisco, or Los Angeles, California. Working remotely will also be considered with occasional travel to California offices.
