Reporting to the Divisional President with a secondary (“dotted line”) reporting to the Corporate Marketing Director. The Divisional Marketing Vice President is responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive competitive and corporate strategies for the Division in domestic and international markets to deliver near-term and future Divisional growth. As a Segment Lead, the individual in this role will lead the contributing businesses from across the Group; developing, defining and implementing a collaborative strategy, including market analysis, market presentation and key collaborative opportunity pursuit, for the Segment.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Divisional Marketing Vice President
  • Work with the Divisional President to set strategic goals for the Division and translate these into a Divisional Strategic Plan, which is achievable and acceptable to Group management.
  • Track and report key orders in the monthly report. Monitor order cover for the current reporting period.
  • Support the businesses in their execution of the strategic planning process to meet the requirements of the Group guidelines.
  • Support the continuous improvement of sales & marketing teams within the Division’s businesses, championing best practice and setting clear expectations of the approach, standards of performance and behaviors expected in their execution appropriate to the needs of the business
  • Support acquisitions undertaken by the Division through oversight of marketing due diligence
  • Act as Division Risk Champion responsible for tracking, consolidating and mitigating business risks at the Division level.
  • Actively support the Corporate Marketing Director in development of Group strategy, strategic marketing initiatives and support to other Divisions of Ultra as required.
  • Manage regional marketing assets assuming responsibility for annual strategic objectives, personal and professional development, and pay and benefits
  • Represent the Division and Ultra Electronics as appropriate at both internal and external events.
  • Uphold, safeguard and promote Ultra Electronics’ values and philosophy, particularly in regard to accountability, ethics, integrity and corporate responsibility in accordance with company guidelines.
As a Segment Lead
  • Research and analyze current segment markets for market volume and growth, customer need, technology development and competition. Evaluate and recommend new markets as targets for pursuit.
  • With the core businesses and within the framework set by Group, develop a strategy to maximize growth potential within the Segment.
  • Identify potential acquisitions that support the segment strategy.
  • With Group Communications, develop an effective customer presentation of the segment capability and offerings. Provide and deliver briefings to customer and investment audiences
  • Coordinate the development of technology roadmaps and ensure IR&D and Bid and Proposal expenditures are appropriate, not duplicated and optimized to support future growth
  • In significant markets requiring a collaborative approach, provide senior customer engagement to position Ultra for growth opportunities and win orders.
  • For significant collaborative opportunities, ensure a comprehensive game plan is generated to align the contributions of participating businesses and partners, and maximize the probability of win.
  • Ensure an appropriate level of Key Account Management is applied across the Segment
  • Coordinate exhibition and conference activities for the Segment
Required Skills:
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • The ability to obtain a Secret security clearance. Security clearances may only be granted to U.S. citizens
  • Business development experience within the defense industry
Desired Skills:
  • Operational military experience; preferable Navy warfare
  • Demonstrable experience of competitive analysis and strategic action planning
  • Demonstrable experience of material bid/no-bid and/or investment decisions
  • Experience of self-starting and learning on the job
  • Experience of targeting, identifying and completing acquisitions
  • Experience of prospecting and qualifying bid opportunities
  • Experience of bidding and winning opportunities
  • Technically savvy
