The University of Arizona Cancer Center (UACC) is seeking a highly qualified project manager to oversee the planning, development and execution of complex projects and strategic initiatives within the Cancer Center. This key strategic team member will work with UACC faculty and staff to develop research grant proposals, organize and facilitate the execution of strategic initiatives and related planning meetings, and provide general project management support. The selected candidate will manage the project’s entire life cycle from planning through to execution, on schedule and on budget.
The Scientific Project Manager must be an experienced and strong writer as he/she will participate heavily in grant proposal development and writing, and the writing of scientific reports. The position requires a demonstrated ability to work independently and professionally with minimal supervision. Duties & Responsibilities
- Coordinate interactions between members of taskforces, as well as between the taskforce and relevant individuals to mediate the efficient planning, development, and execution of projects, providing clarity to team members on project tasks and schedule through their various phases.
- Facilitate creation and maintenance of project information – objectives, design, schedule, budget, progress, risks etc.
- Prepare deliverables and presentations to stakeholders, meeting coordination, and administrative tasks.
- Serve as liaison between UACC team and Arizona Health Sciences Center’s Research Administration team for grant preparation and submission.
- Serve as liaison between UACC team and TechLaunch Arizona
- Prepare meeting notes, progress reports and other documentation.
- Participate heavily in the development and writing of grant proposals and scientific reports.
- Define problems, and troubleshoot, identify potential solutions.
- Travel may be required.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Minimum Qualifications
- Masters or PhD in a scientific field or equivalent work experience.
- Grant writing and editing experience.
- 4 years’ experience managing multidisciplinary projects.
- Experience working with extramural funding agencies, e.g. NIH, DOD, PCORI, and industry sponsors.
