Position Summary

Citi Retail Services is seeking an experienced leader for a managerial role within its risk management team. This position will have accountability for the risk team that develops and administers the collection and recovery policies, strategies and tests across all CRS portfolios. As the team leader for collection and recovery, this role is responsible for all collection and recovery policy and administration including contact strategy, channel optimization, treatments, loss mitigation program, agency performance, legal and other recovery actions.

Additionally, this role will provide leadership on key collection and recovery initiatives and changes across the North American Cards business, assist with the coordination of activities within the broader risk and business teams, and serve as a key functional member of the N.A. Cards collection, strategic and risk operating committees (SOC/ROC).

As the Risk Director for CRS, you’ll be working closely with the collection teams from other lines of business as well as with the independent risk team to develop and deploy collection and recovery policies and strategies.

Key responsibilities include direct risk oversight for the collection and recovery operations, establishment of performance targets and benchmarks, risk policy and strategy development, program and portfolio modeling and reporting, loss mitigation program development, administration and validation, collection compliance, review and approval of collection and recovery policies and procedures, and knowledge of operational practices. This role will monitor and ensure compliance with the Bank’s Global Risk & Fraud Policy (GCGFRP), N.A. Cards and CRS collection policies and strategies.

Based in Elk Grove Village, Illinois, the role will provide leadership within the CRS business and work to define risk policies and business solutions by providing analytical insight to enhance critical business decisions. This position will also shape the strategic direction and business decisions around the collection and risk systems infrastructure including the contact utility to ensure that various risk systems and processes are properly maintained and capable of executing the policies and strategies as intended, and deployed to maintain acceptable efficiency and effectiveness trade-offs and positive customer experiences within the unsecured card portfolios.

The ideal candidate will have 15+ years of experience, with 10+ years of experience in a large, sophisticated collection, credit granting or risk management environment and with an organization within a major consumer card, financial services, retailing or consulting business. This experience will have been gained in high volume, medium-to-highly complex environments, where leadership, risk assessment, technological sophistication, and data mining techniques are critical to success. This individual will promote a strong culture of effective leadership, teamwork, and open participation.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Develop and manage the implementation of all collection and recovery strategies for CRS, including pre and post-implementation testing and validation, as well as provide business and strategy direction on a variety of strategy execution, technology and infrastructure projects.

Manage and administer changes to key data and collection systems and interfaces including data attributes, models and rules within the Contact Utility, Triad/Blaze, ACS, DM9 and other Collection Systems and Utilities.

Define and manage key collection and recovery initiatives, program goals and risk tolerances (including the collection risk appetite framework, RAF); develop innovative solutions / options to drive strong efficiency/effectiveness trade-offs and ensure recession readiness.

Successfully lead various strategic initiatives and / or complex analytical projects within CRS focused on the collection and recovery programs and supporting collection systems infrastructure and risk control processes.

Hire, train and develop risk team members, identify appropriate and timely training programs, and actively participate in employee assessment processes.

Build and maintain cross-functional partnerships and networks to contribute and drive strong execution around key business initiatives.

Establish, monitor and manage collection strategies, treatments and process and ensure strong execution including monthly review of control reports, performance and volume tracking, delinquency and loss performance metrics.

Ensure compliance with Citi’s internal policies and external regulatory and policy compliance.


Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities:

  • Strong leadership track record, and experience dealing with a variety of card disciplines
  • 10+ Years of Risk Collection Policy and/or Collection Operations Experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Knowledge and proficient in risk systems and/or SQL and SAS programming
  • Experience in the design, implementation, validation and deployment of scoring and segmentation strategies and models
  • Working knowledge of the U.S. consumer lending and collection regulatory environment including FDCPA and 3rd Party Collection proposal


Qualifications


Minimum Education:
BS/BA degree (advanced degree or equivalent education / experience is preferred)


Minimum Experience:
Advanced level experience in related role with extensive experience in the lending business, collection and recovery operations, 3rd party management, functional and people management. Additionally, a strong understanding of risk management concepts and strategies, credit card operations, collection and compliance / regulatory environment and oversight is required
