Role: Head of Life Sciences
Job Location: Preferably New York, NY, but open to another strategic geography.
Job Description:
Big Picture: Stand-up a national Life Sciences practice (digital health, pharmaceuticals, therapeutics, medical devices, genomics, diagnostics, etc.âŚ) on the first fully digital banking platform, focused particularly on delivering top flight banking/lending services to life science and digital health companies across the United States.
Day-to-Day:
- Develop and lead a national business development effort focused on acquiring new Life Science clients by providing innovative financial services solutions;
- Be the primary point of contact on client relationships, coordinating and supervising the entire client experience, ensuring the proper application of bank policies and processes;
- Provide leadership and guidance to team of Relationship Managers (RMs) and underwriters;
- Develop and execute on a data driven approach to the market, working with internal stakeholders across the Bank to execute;
- Anticipate and respond to future client needs, roadblocks or risks;
- Meet bank, business unit and team sales goals;
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made;
- Apply sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices; and
- Effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability to ensure successful execution of overall strategy
What you need:
- At least 7 to 10 years of experience, relationship management in life sciences, including being a trusted partner to companies, (digital health, pharmaceuticals, therapeutics, medical devices, genomics, diagnostics, etc.âŚ) investors, and partners such as accelerator programs or lab spaces in this field;
- In-depth knowledge of commercial banking for life science companies;
- Sound judgment and creativity in solutioning client credit/deposit needs.
- Significant experience with commercial credit decision making authority and advanced credit skills, with experience in complex capital structures.
- Ability to work effectively in a dynamic company and team setting.
- Proven track record of successfully managing and leading teams through rapid growth and complex change, with track record of attracting, maintaining and developing talent.
- Proven leadership ability with excellent interpersonal communication skills
- Adaptability.
