The Role
Reporting to the Willis Towers Watson Chief Risk Officer based in New York, this position serves as the Global Head of Excellence/Assurance. Willis Towers Watson’s Excellence programs are critical elements of how the company furthers its values and manages operational risk. This leadership role is responsible for setting the vision, strategy and transformational approach for evolving current practices, as well as maintaining the robust and embedded program that is in place today. Excellence at Willis Towers Watson is part of the culture and provides assurance over day to day activities such that our clients, colleagues and other stakeholders are receiving high quality products and services. A key component of the role is collaboration and the incumbent will need to partner closely with the business, support functions and other groups to ensure the design and execution of Excellence is integrated and executed effectively.

Principal Duties/Responsibilities
- Evolve, as needed, the vision, strategy and operating model for Excellence at Willis Towers Watson taking into consideration the different businesses, products and regions the company operates in
- Lead the Excellence review function and team, which is part of the company’s Risk function, establishing and providing clear objectives and support for team members
- Cultivate and lead the business/function-embedded network of Excellence Directors, Leaders, Champions and Regional Review Managers to enable a consistent understanding of objectives, approach and expectations and to ensure suitable execution of the model
- Adapt, as needed, the Excellence framework ensuring the program is designed, implemented and embedded to accomplish the appropriate level of robustness
- Maintain the appropriate governance to support the Excellence program
- Partner with Audit, Compliance and other risk, control and oversight functions to ensure frameworks are integrated where appropriate and approaches are efficient and effective
- Represent Excellence, and more broadly the interests of operational risk management, on governance and control forums, many of which are addressing strategic change for the company
- As identified and required, establish and lead ad-hoc control initiatives to address known issues/opportunities across the company
- Produce and share the appropriate levels of reporting with stakeholders across the company focusing on both unique material issues identified, and themes. Stakeholders to include business/country leaders, OpCo members and the Board Risk Committee
- Evaluate how technology and newly developing concepts such as artificial intelligence can be used to optimize the effectiveness of a corporate assurance function
- Provide leadership input regarding the design, implementation and communication of risk management practices at the company, including partnering with other OGC and business owned control functions regarding how Excellence fits into the broader framework and can support requirements outside the immediate program
- Educate and train the business and corporate functions on the importance of Excellence

The Requirements
- Effective leader with strong influencing skills and the ability to drive change through collaboration
- 15+ years of risk management or quality assurance experience in a complex and highly matrixed environment
- Ability to design and deliver effective and persuasive communications and presentations on complex topics to employees, clients and senior stakeholders
- Excellent strategic influencing skills with the ability to relate to a wide variety of people with different agendas while building consensus and driving results
- Direct and relevant experience in assisting senior teams to implement organizational change, global/multinational experience is a significant plus
- Commercial awareness, with a commercially led, pragmatic, flexible and proactive approach
