Principal Accountabilities:
Policy, Engagement and Outcomes: Oversee the policy team working with partners to elevate to scope and engagement of our underlying research and advance the goals under our strategic focal areas. Contribute their own content on topics relevant to tribal and low-income residents/communities. Work with team to advance public policy solutions on challenges facing low and moderate-income members of our community. This includes engaging and partnering with relevant stakeholders. Provide critical review to our written publications. Work with our public affairs and communications teams in identifying and supporting a department communications strategy that set priority initiatives for engaging target audiences with our work and amplifies community voices. Foster a creative, innovative, and adaptive team approach.
Strategic Vision: Direct or participate in the successful planning and execution of research projects and other types of department initiatives aimed at addressing the root causes of poverty and inequality in the district and nationally. Participate in the development of department focal areas and focal area goals, as well as department management policies. Provide occasional briefings to senior bank leadership on emerging issues and current policy discussion pertinent to lower-income communities. Develop broad-based knowledge pertaining to our focal areas and affected environmental factors to inform the above strategic work.
Team Management and Development: Excel in participating on a team of other AVP leaders overseeing the CD and CICD functions. Identify what skills/expertise are needed for open positions and manage recruiting. Effectively leverage the broad set of knowledge and skills across the team when identifying projects and roles while fostering a team environment. Incentivize and support creative and innovative ideas and risk-taking that promote positive outcomes. Manage staff work, provide direct constructive feedback to help team members achieve their professional potential, and work with team members to identify growth opportunities and professional development plans.
Collaboration and Partnerships: Foster strong collaboration across the division, the Bank and the Fed System. This includes working with other leads across the department to identify how research, policy and communication experts can contribute their skills and knowledge to inform the development of strategies for department initiatives and best provide support to the work of the department’s engagement groups. Identify and develop relationships and/or partnerships to spur change or to take on research questions related how we collectively understand and respond to issues faced by low-income populations—particularly through analytical work.
Serve as an ambassador of CD and CICD participating on external committees, workgroups, and task forces. Conduct internal and external presentations on department research and other work to large and small audiences.

This position is required to supervise senior staff.
