Overview:
The VP of Marketing and Communications (VP) of SOAR365 will be responsible for the organization’s marketing, branding, media and public relations, promotion, market research, issues management, crisis communication, and marketing-related customer relationship and engagement activities. This is a full-time position that will report to the Chief Executive Officer and serves as a key member of the leadership team of the organization.
The VP will work in close alignment with his or her peers across the various units of the organization leading the branding and marketing communications surrounding the organization with the specific purpose of:
- Driving the overall brand awareness of the organization and its mission;
- Increasing the visibility of the organization’s services among key stakeholders;
- Creating innovative ways to engage corporate and individual partners, clients, donors as well as internal stakeholders.
The successful candidate will be a seasoned professional with demonstrated success leading a marketing and communications team in the nonprofit and/or corporate sectors.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Communicate the organization’s mission, vision and services to various stakeholders.
- Shape SOAR365’s marketing strategy in a way that supports its desire to become best in class and meets its short term and long-term objectives, including market positioning and competitive analysis.
- Create and execute innovative communications strategies, including both traditional and social media, to guide SOAR365’s leadership in cultivating and enhancing relationships with the organization’s key audiences which include donors, key stakeholders, community leaders and partners, the media and the general public.
- Develop and implement an integrated marketing and communications strategy to advance SOAR365’s new brand identity, broaden and increase the visibility of its programs and build a strong public voice.
- Partner with the leadership team to develop and implement an internal communications strategy across multiple channels, which allows employees across the organization to be ambassadors in the community.
- Manage, recruit and develop a marketing and communications team. Provide leadership and vision to the team, to include full time employees and external vendors.
- Build organizational capability by identifying skills needed in the department and recruiting and developing staff in alignment with strategic priorities.
- Oversee all aspects of marketing and communications, including branding, advertising, special events, public relations/media outreach, writing, web and content management, collateral materials development, newsletters, sponsorships, online and social media.
- Implement a project management system that can be scaled and used by the entire team across the units.
- Lead oversight of marketing and communications analytics and use to guide strategy.
- Oversee all aspects of public relations, including media relations and community relations.
- Plan and execute media campaigns and advertising buys.
- Ensure consistency of key messages and brand identity.
- Direct market research activities to keep abreast of changing demographics and other relevant factors and to monitor emerging issues.
- Judiciously source and manage the use of external vendors and contractors when required.
- Facilitate effective cross functional teamwork with members of the SOAR365’s units and functions.
Create and manage departmental budgets and interface with SOAR365’s internal finance and IT functions to effectively manage the department’s administrative processes.
Reporting Relationships: Reports directly to the President / Chief Executive Officer
Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in marketing, communications, business or related field.
- Minimum of ten years of experience in a senior management role, holding progressively responsible positions in marketing and communications for nonprofit, corporate, and/or agency organizations.
- A strong communicator able to interface with a variety of audiences, both internal and external.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills and the credibility and poise to present to a wide range of stakeholders.
- Proven success at developing and implementing digital marketing and social media strategies to enhance visibility, engagement and loyalty.
- Extensive experience developing, implementing, and analyzing both traditional and social media metrics.
- Innovative thinker, with a track record for translating strategic thinking into actions plans and results.
- Experience building, leading and mentoring a team of marketing and communications specialists.
- Superior management skills, including the ability to advocate for and manage to budget priorities.
- Strong project management skills.
- Presence and confidence to project credibility to staff, senior leaders, Board of Directors, media and stakeholders.
- Self-reliant, problem solver and results oriented.
- Demonstrated ability to multi task, handle pressure and meet deadlines.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (e.g. Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook) with solid understanding of key marketing and communications tools (e.g. Web Content Management Systems, email systems, Google Analytics and other web metrics, Adobe Creative Suite, among others); and
- A passion for SOAR365’s mission, vision and accomplishments and a desire to serve individuals with disabilities and their families.
Physical Requirements:
Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle or feel objects and controls. Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment, such as, but not limited to, personal computer, calculator, copier and fax machine. No significant standing, walking, moving, climbing, carrying, bending, kneeling, crawling, reaching, handling, pushing and pulling. Must be able to travel to the field (outside of the office) in order to conduct quality assurance visits, staff monitoring, and consultation.
