Job Description

EBAD seeks a dynamic, experienced leader for the position of Vice President, Human Resources, reporting to the President. The position is a key member of the company’s executive leadership team and is based in Simsbury, CT.

This is an HR leader for a multi-site organization with a long and rich history of success in the aerospace and defense industry and is accountable to support the business unit including matrix reporting to the VP, Human Resources at our parent company of Ensign Bickford Industries. Role is accountable for the development and delivery of programs and services that will increase the operational performance and results of the business unit. The successful candidate must be a strong and action-oriented partner who can work with leadership to accelerate strategy implementation and change and must have strong collaboration skills, with the vision, tough-mindedness and organizational savvy to execute. Well-developed analytical skills, unquestioned integrity, and the experience and presence to effectively handle senior level interpersonal relationships.

Reporting to this individual includes a multi-site team of eight HR professionals, including three site HR Managers, a Talent Acquisition Specialist, an HR Generalist, two HR Coordinators, and a Project HR temporary employee.

Position Objectives:

  • Lead the business through an incredible growth period while protecting the entrepreneurial spirit that defines our culture
  • Serve as an advisor, counsel, and trusted resource to the senior business leaders
  • Facilitation of organizational and leadership development, recruiting, compensation and employee relations activities
  • Lead and develop improvements for HR processes and services to improve efficiency and ensure legal compliance

Responsibilities:

  • Help to align business objectives and goals to broaden the business strategy and culture
  • Counsel business leaders on HR issues such as organization design, leadership and team development, succession planning, change management, performance management, training, policy issues, retention strategies and compensation management
  • Evaluate how the organization works to help improve effectiveness in areas such as structure, work processes, teamwork, and leadership
  • Collaborate with other HR Leaders at other EBI Business Units to identify and resolve organizational issues
  • Up to 25% domestic travel may be required

Knowledge Skills, and Abilities:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of current and key HR practices-employee relations, compensation, talent development, HRIS, HR law and recruitment/staffing
  • An ability to influence senior executives, establish and maintain collaborative partnerships, and provide thought leadership
  • Familiarity with influencing compensation decisions to attract the best talent and aligning compensation with contributions and growth potential
  • Develop and lead the implementation of projects in a fast paced, challenging environment with multiple, competing priorities
  • Ability to architect and implement large changes and to maneuver easily between conception and operation
  • Business Acumen relative to understanding financials, including P&L, budget planning and execution, revenue and operating profit, headcount forecasting and budgeting etc.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
  • Continuous improvement mindset in an established business system, including lean process tools such as Kaizen and Problem-Solving Process
  • Industry experience helpful, although a background in most types of manufacturing industries would likely translate well
  • Knowledge of Workday as an HRIS and ATS helpful

Education or Equivalent Experience :

  • 10+ years relevant experience, of which at least 5 served in a leadership capacity in a similar sized business
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent industry experience required
  • MBA Preferred
