Position Overview:
KIPP Nashville is committed to providing a college preparatory literacy education to all students. The Regional Manager of Writing plays a critical role in realizing this mission by providing schools with high-quality curriculum materials that are vertically aligned, ensuring that every KIPP Nashville student is ready to matriculate into rigorous high school literacy courses. The Regional Manager of Writing will report directly to the Director of Humanities.

Position Responsibilities:
Responsibilities of the Regional Manager of Writing will include, but are not limited to:

Curriculum Frameworks

  • Revise, curate, and expand regional writing curriculum with scope and sequences, units, exemplars, daily aims, and culminating tasks
  • Build regional grammar curriculum with scope and sequences and lesson examples
  • Drive unit launch and lesson study structures, including internalization templates, schedules and protocols for the above

Assessment and Data-Driven Instruction

  • Publish writing assessments – writing interim assessments and quarterly grammar assessments
  • Drive writing assessment cycles at the regional level including establishing timelines, communicating school scheduling and instructional goals, and providing principal or AP support in scoring/norming
  • Vet assessments, author assessments, and/or project manage assessment writing for writing including on-demand tasks, IA writing assessments, and quarterly grammar assessments.
  • Manage yearly literacy assessment calendars and scope and sequences for the region
  • Analyze writing data and support APs with action-plans based on results
  • Curate student writing samples and create a scoring library for our on-demand tasks
  • Capture and share best practices with the regional writing team

Professional Development

  • Plan and lead summer PD to launch shared vision and build teacher toolkit
  • Plan and lead shared PD calendar during the year to support teacher execution
  • Lead “Looking at Student Work” sessions with teachers on data days
  • Join Principal Meetings to develop Principals toward writing instructional priorities, as needed

Desired Qualifications:

  • At least three years of work experience teaching secondary writing courses (5-12)
  • Model of effective and high-quality writing instruction
  • Demonstrated ability to drive student success
  • Experience in curriculum support, such as assessment writing and/or scope and sequence management
  • Strong project management skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail
  • Excellent communicator, who can work with internal and external stakeholders
  • Bachelor’s degree required

Compensation
Salary is competitive, commensurate with experience, and includes benefits. This position will work and be compensated according to a 12 month administrative schedule.
