ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Functions as a specialized advisor to the Commissioner/First Deputy Commissioner in a given technical or operational area;
- Manages professional staff and directs the functions and operations of an organizational section or unit; establishes and implements policies and procedures relating to section’s objectives;
- Manages and directs major and large-scale programs or projects of significant size and scope in terms of budget, operations and/or staffing;
- Contributes and provides key support in establishing and maintaining various continuity of operations and continuity of government programs;
- Consults with staff and consultants to determine scope of services, budgets, establishes timelines, and implements processes to track and monitor the progress of projects and the accomplishment of key objectives;
- Meets with Human Resources for staffing issues or to assess staffing needs;
- Coordinates, administers, and responds to citywide initiatives, departmental programs and special projects of a complex and technical nature;
- And, other job-related duties as required.
PROJECT MANAGER – AIRPORT OPERATIONS:
- Contributes to Design & Construction, Airside Operations, Landside Operations, Vehicle Services, and Facilities initiatives supported by the office of the Commissioner/First Deputy Commissioner.
PROJECT MANAGER – AIRPORT SERVICES:
- Contributes to Concessions & Customer Service, Media Relations & Marketing, and Air Services initiatives supported by the office of the Commissioner/First Deputy Commissioner.
PROJECT MANAGER – PROFESSIONAL SERVICES:
- Contributes to Legal & Contracts, Finance, Human Resources, IT & Telecoms initiatives supported by the office of the Commissioner/First Deputy Commissioner.
NOTE: The positions support O’Hare and Midway International Airports
NOTE: Must be flexible to early and/or late meetings
NOTE: This is a 24/7 on-call operations, based on operational needs
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- I have at least nine (9) years of project management work experience from a large matrix organization; OR
- I have an Associate’s Degree from an accredited college in Business Administration, Public Administration, Aviation Management, Engineering, Construction Management/Technology, or a directly related field of study, plus seven years of project management work experience from a large matrix organization; OR
- I have a Master’s Degree or Doctorate from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Public Administration, Aviation Management, Engineering, Construction Management, Law, or a directly related field of study, plus four years of project management work experience from a large matrix organization.
