Home of the legendary fairy stones, this park is well known for its 168-acre lake adjoining Philpott Reservoir. The park is just minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway. Attractions include cabins, a campground, group camping, an equestrian campground, a conference center, hiking trails, lake swimming, rowboats, canoes, paddle boats, kayaks, picnicking and two playgrounds, including one in the water.
This position coordinates a variety of business functions for Fairy Stone State Park to include budget development and monitoring, financial and account management, human resource management, records management, procurement, administrative activities or project tracking and reporting. Responsible for identifying priorities of the park, and to develop standards and objectives for administrative processes. Responsible for providing enterprise operation support, to include management and operation of the gift shop.
Considerable knowledge of agency and state accounts payable, wage and budgetary policies/procedures. Knowledge of the principles and practices of procurement and contracts, payroll, accounts payable, records retention and state policy and procedures.
Working knowledge of basic bookkeeping, accounting principles, procurement, and office operations.
Knowledge of supervisory principles and practices to include performance management and discipline.
Experience in training and evaluating employees.
Ability to prioritize communications, complaints, and inquiries.
Experience in developing and implementing planned courses of action. Ability to develop and deliver policy in providing consultant support.
Knowledge of state payroll operations, records retention, and budget management. Ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities.
Valid VA Driver’s License or ability to attain required.
Proficient in using various computer programs/applications including: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Docs, Google Sheets.
Degree in Accounting, Business or Public Administration preferred; equivalent experience or training may substitute for degree. Knowledge in the development and management of contracts including evaluations.
Fingerprint-based criminal history record check, references, work history and DMV driving record will be verified prior to employment. Ability to work in diverse conditions including exposure to the outdoors, weather in all seasons, dust, animals and insects. Position requires shift work, including weekends and holidays.
