The Executive Director provides leadership, direction and vision for workforce development and Continuing Education and Customized Training (CECT) activities at Lake Superior College. The Executive Director provides leadership in the design, development, review, articulation, and evaluation of Customized Training and Continuing Education initiatives. The Executive Director champions processes for identifying new and innovative outreach and customized training opportunities as well as other timely market-driven programs. The Executive Director will initiate and build partnerships with other higher education institutions, school districts, business and industry, government agencies and other entities in order to serve the region and state. It is an expectation that the Executive Director identifies financial resources that off-set expenses related to CECT activities. The Executive Director will ensure CECT outreach efforts are coordinated with the External Relations department to leverage and build on existing relationships while striving to develop new relationships with regional business and employers.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 3 years’ experience in an education or business environment to include: market research, administration, and/or as a workforce development or customized training program director
  • Evidence of strong leadership, organizational, time-management and human relations skills
  • Able to communicate clearly (written and oral), demonstrate timely follow up on tasks and projects
  • Demonstrated financial management skills
  • Experience working with unionized environments
  • Ability to use information technology

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree
  • Understanding of grant writing and administration processes
  • Experience in facilitating market research
  • Leadership experience with CE/CT workforce training programs and economic development initiatives
  • Knowledge of community and technical college organization, curriculum, goals, vision, system policies and procedures, labor contracts, fiscal regulations
  • Ability to work with faculty and industry partners to evaluate programs and implement changes and/or new programs
  • Knowledge of on-line learning platforms
