Position Summary & Duties:

The Engineering Project Manager position is a temp-to-perm contract position working for a specialty chemical client in the Kenner, LA area.

ENGINEERING PROJECT MANAGER ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare project scopes, including costs, vendor bids and time allotment to meet specific goals and objectives.
  • Manage, engineer, execute, and closeout capital projects.
  • Work with and assist business, technology group, managers, EHS, consultants, technicians, and vendors to evaluate options and designs for utilization and implementation.


Project Management

  • Prepare project scopes, including costs, vendor bids and time allotment to meet specific goals and objectives
  • Perform and direct design and procurement for the installation of engineering projects.
  • Translate specific project concepts into tangible components.
  • Ensure that all aspects of projects are adequately documented at each stage.
  • Look for cost effective solutions for resolution of complex issues.
  • Manage and control project cost and manage project schedule and timeline.
  • Identify, obtain, and manage necessary skill sets to perform required functions.
  • Utilize cross-functional teams as necessary to provide the required services.
  • Comply with local standards, state requirements, and national codes.
  • Prepare appropriation requests and present them to management.
  • Obtain resolution to all issues or escalate them to Engineering Manager.
  • Implement corrective action to manage all deviations.
  • Assume ownership and management of all assigned and assumed projects.
  • Apply common sense to the various stages of all projects.
  • Evaluate and determine risks to shore-up the success of all tasks.
  • Communicate, inform, and report project status to all respective stakeholders.


Engineering functional support/troubleshooting

  • Meet corporate goals regarding safety, security, quality, and environment.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and provide technical expertise to department as needed.
  • Work with and assist business, technology group, managers, EHS, consultants, technicians, and vendors to evaluate options and designs for utilization and implementation.
  • Provide professional and ethical services in the performance of all assignments.
  • Verify that customer quality and expectation are achieved as intended.

Qualifications: Engineering Project Manager Education/Work Experience

  • BS in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering required.
  • 8+ years in chemical manufacturing environment; Prior experience working within engineering department; experience in project management.
  • Prior experience as Project Manager or Process Engineer.
  • Significant experience developing, managing, and implementing chemical industry projects.
  • Experience with major costing estimates and obtaining bids and quotes from vendors, in order to effectively plan, estimate, implement, and manage projects.
  • Knowledge of chemical plant process equipment including reactors, heat exchangers, centrifuges, piping, pumps and pumping systems, boilers, cooling systems and technical drawing interpretations
  • Strong knowledge of basic engineering principles and regulatory compliance
  • Prior experience with MOC process and leading PHA process
