PRIMARY JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES


**This role will be located on-site with our customer**
The Director will plan, implement, and administer the overall processes, policies and goals for the department to support the needs of our clients. In addition, they will plan, guide and execute the overall workflow and direction of multiple teams/pods in our organization.

  • Responsible for Strategic Account Management (SAM) development and execution
  • Operations Management (P&L Ownership, Strategic Development, Overall Operations)
  • Customer Relationship (Consistent and professional communications; effective, prompt and courteous communications with respect to difficult situations, relaying service failures, financial settlement process, etc.)
  • Overall responsibility for financial planning/budgeting
  • Meet or Exceed Transplace Targeted Financial Objectives
  • Ensure appropriate use of internal service providers where benefits exist for Transplace and the Customers
  • Meet or exceed Customer financial and service targets
  • Active development, distribution and customer alignment of business metrics that highlight both financial and service value
  • Successfully on-board new accounts
  • Ensure team development and growth aligns with Corporate development goals

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND TASKS

  • Actively Participate in new account gate reviews
  • Assist project team in preparation for customer facing meetings
  • Work with peers to standardize onboarding methodology to include:
    • Systems applications
    • SOP’s
    • Account governance (OGSM/MDI/Reporting)
  • Pro-actively identify and communicate issues, propose and implement solutions for continuous improvement in regards to processes, cost, service, and profitability
  • Determine eligibility for additional non-committed freight to be awarded to internal brokerage services and actively support and encourage the awards
  • Administer internal performance management reports
  • Oversee strategy and ensure execution of procurement process
  • Monitor and hold team accountable for all key job functions
  • Review, analyze, and own all matters related to P&Ls
  • Deliver cost savings / cost containment to customer and/or Transplace
  • Retain overall ownership of assigned areas of responsibility
  • Cascading Account Goals (SMART)
  • Business Reviews (Creation, Development, Presentation)
  • Actively Engage in and Champion the Talent Review Process throughout the 3PL Organization
  • Engage Management Team as business partners on a regular basis to discuss career development, current performance, and training opportunities (cross-account, cross-functional, etc.)
  • Understand and apply all aspects of customer contracts
  • Work closely with Strategic Account Management philosophy to maintain and grow Transplace’s business with the customer; incorporating ROI delivered to customer over the life of the contract
  • Responsible for leading corporate initiatives that drive value, cost savings/reductions and improve overall business processes

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERTISE

  • Working Knowledge and Utilization of the appropriate transportation management system
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Tools (Ability to leverage Excel and other MS programs, including Word, Outlook, Lync, etc.)
  • Knowledge of the Customer’s Business (Knowledge and understanding of the customer product, ability to flowchart the customer’s basic supply chain, speak the customer’s language and understand the customer’s key service measures, etc.)
  • Industry Expertise (Transportation industry knowledge, including key terminology; and, general knowledge of primary customer industries)
  • Transplace Expertise (Understand and know the Mission, Values and Goals, Leadership Principles, Talent Review Process, organizational structure, company history, how we function internally, administration, best practices, processes, behavior, the complete Transplace order-to-cash, etc.)
  • Geographical Expertise (Geographical understanding of the continental US, Mexico and Canada. Understanding of mileage as it relates to the passage of time, including DOT & Speed governance), Including Transit time difference based on mode
  • Working knowledge of Transplace LSS and how it applies to area of responsibility
  • Operations responsibility for Transplace’s Demand Management Process
  • High level understanding of ERP integration flows with TMS applications.

SKILLS

  • Advanced computer skills
  • Microsoft Excel: Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel including but not limited to V/H Lookup, Pivot Tables and advanced formulas
  • Experience using SAP enterprise resource planning
  • Effective analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Ability to manage a minimum of 10 direct reports and a staff of 50
  • Ability to envision and implement new concepts/strategies
  • Ability to participate as a team-member as well as leader in a fast paced, team oriented environment.
  • Ability to facilitate group meetings.
  • Simultaneous management of multiple tasks, negotiation skills, advanced written, oral, and presentation communication skills

TRAVEL

  • Approximately 50%

EXPERIENCE

  • 5+ years in supply chain management
  • 4 years of personnel leadership

EDUCATION

  • Undergraduate degree from Four-Year College or University
