JOB SUMMARY:
To meet and exceed membership and profitability targets for all market segments for

Delta Dental of Massachusetts through proactive strategic planning and execution.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and implement an annual sales and client services strategy that

maximizes profitable growth and retention in each market segment.

  • As a senior member of the Delta Dental leadership team, provide input to the

strategic management of DDMA to ensure short term financial and long term

corporate objectives are achieved including membership and profitability.

  • Create a culture of consistent improvement that focuses on delivering a best in

class customer experience.

  • Attract, develop and engage the sales & client services team and develop them

through mentoring, coaching and thought leadership to ensure the organization

has the talent necessary to achieve our business objectives.

  • Analyze competitive environment to support pricing and products strategies, as

well as sales/service approaches, with a focus on profitable growth.

  • Operate as a change leader suggesting and implementing new approaches that

improve customer experience, efficiency and profitability across the business

unit.

  • Develop, cultivate and maintain strong relationships with all brokers and

consultants

  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with all key accounts at a

senior management level.

  • Provide the VP of Sales & Client Services with reporting that reflects the

activities and results of the department pertaining to prospecting activities,

sales results, renewal activities etc.

  • Prepare and meet annual departmental budget
  • Participate and engage with all internal departments to ensure aligned

strategies, coordination and accountability

  • Involves leadership of and participation in various meetings, projects, and task

forces.

  • Other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • College degree required, master’s degree preferred
  • 10+ year’s insurance industry experience and 3+ years management experience

in a results-oriented environment

  • Experience with employers and brokers in the Massachusetts marketplace
  • Expertise in group benefits, underwriting & analytics.
  • Track record of building high performing teams through proactive leadership

and strategies

  • Proven ability to proactively provide strategic and consultative input to both

employees and customers to meet business needs and growth targets.

  • Solid understanding of the competitive nature of the marketplace so that Delta

Dental can maintain a leadership position via innovative solutions to business

requirements.

  • Belief in the value of participatory management, honest/constructive feedback,

and to leadership by example.

  • Highly effective written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable car.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

  • Travel to customer locations by car.
  • Ability to work on PC.
