Job Purpose: The Director of Flight Operations (DO) is the designated authority to the Federal Aviation Administration. The DO is responsible for exercising operational control over all of the company’s aircraft.
Key Responsibilities:
· Exercises operational control for all flight operations to meet FAA requirements, including but not limited to:
-Develop and maintain the Operations Specifications for Part-135 Operations and coordinate with the FAA for approval.
-Develop, distribute and maintain the company’s General Operations Manual and recommend additional policies and procedures as they relate to safety and maintenance the company’s Part-135 aircraft.
-Establish and adhere to flight operations reporting procedures in accordance with FAA mandated requirements and the company’s management, enduring accurate and timely reports to all applicable government agencies.
-Serve as the company’s agent/signatory for issuance and receipt of all Operations Specifications.
·Manages aviation relationships through day-to-day operations, including but not limited to:
-Collaborate with the Director of Maintenance (DOM) to review all major aircraft repairs and modifications to company’s onwed, leased or managed aircraft and ensure coordination with FAA, as required.
-Coordinate with DOM and Chief Pilot to ensure maintenance and flight operations are fully coordinated and provide planning and execution support for training, ferry flights and operational checks.
-Coordinate with DOM aircraft conformity procedures.
-Manages pilots training program and reviews.
-Represent the company’s aviation matter through trade associations, FAA, state and municipal aviation bodies, airport management and community organizations.
-Demonstrate awareness of, and support the company’s goals through participation in continuous quality management and company activities.
-Objectively coaches and disciplines employees, when appropriate, in a timely manner.
-Must ensure employees consistently maintain a positive work environment and work to constructively improve the work environment and processes.
-Regular attendance and punctuality is required.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications:
Meets requirements of the Code of Federal Regulations Title 14, Section 119.71 (b) titled ‘Management Personnel: Qualifications for operations conducted under Part-135 of this chapter. To include:
-At least three years of supervisory or management experience within the last six years in a position that exercised operational control over any operations conducted under Part-121 or Part-135.
– Or for a person becoming Director of Operations for the first time ever, have at least three years of experience, within the last six years, as Pilot in Command of an aircraft operated under Part-121 or Part-135 rules.

IT Skills:
· Intermediate level of computer literacy and particularly high level of knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
