The Director of Admissions and Recruitment provides overall leadership, development, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of campus strategic recruitment/outreach plan to ensure college goals and work plans are met, and to increase enrollment of new students. This position serves as the supervisor of the admissions and outreach professional staff and student employees, and leads the international student admissions process. In addition, the director creates and engages in outreach initiatives and provides pre-entry advisement to prospective local, national and international students. The director collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate a seamless onboarding experience for prospective and matriculating students. This position works directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds and fully supports the College’s commitment to equity and inclusion.

Specific duties include:

  • Lead, supervise, and direct department personnel, including but not limited to hiring, training, and providing work direction to ensure that staff are skilled and available as needed.
  • Develop annual Admissions and Outreach goals and recruitment plan that align with and reflect the college’s strategic plan and goals to include strategies, action steps and targeted outreach based on enrollment management, data, and tracking of conversion.
  • Coordinate, manage, document and staff on-campus and off-campus recruitment and outreach activities/events.
  • Promote innovation in developing outreach activities and improving admission processing procedures.
  • Participate in recruitment activities and other activities to increase enrollment and event attendance while adhering to current industry standards.
  • Manage, facilitate and assess the new student orientation program.
  • Serve as a Designated School Official for International Students.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, business, or related field
  • Two (2) years of supervisory experience and leadership development
  • Three (3) years of relevant experience in admissions, recruitment, and/or outreach
  • Knowledge of successful college transition strategies
  • Ability to plan, coordinate, and implement the development of activities that promote Hennepin Technical College
  • Demonstrated experience in project/program coordination and/or management, and data analysis
  • Ability to collaborate and establish a positive rapport with future students, current students, faculty, staff and the community-at-large
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Independent and strong ability to effectively and creatively solve complex problems
  • Formative and summative program evaluation skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in education, business, or related field
  • Five years of experience in admissions, recruitment, and/or outreach at a college or university
  • Experience in implementing strategic enrollment management goals
  • Experience working with students from diverse and traditionally underserved backgrounds and a strong commitment to equity and inclusion
  • Demonstrated experience working with international students and other students originating from outside of the United States
  • Experience within a multi-campus institution
  • Knowledge of ISRS, CRM/CMS systems, ImageNow, and/or DARS
