About the Opportunity:
The Assistant Project Manager (APM) will have a broad set of skill within the realm of project delivery from planning through project completion. The APM may be deployed in any or all of the typical project phases including Pre-Design, Design, Construction, and Project Closeout. Assistant Project Manager may be on-site manager on small to medium size projects, when necessary. Support the PM with identification of project team members Ensure proper contract administration of external resources. Assist with the coordination of team member daily work as it relates to project timeline and scope. Promote an open interface between internal and external team members. Manage communication with Construction Manager and keep PM up-to-date with issues and resolutions. Input and maintain financial activities for all phases of projects. Track all budget/cost control information. Process purchase orders, payment process and change control. Work to ensure project is completed on budget.
Responsibilities:
Design Related Duties: Existing site condition surveys and CAD documentation | Design development in both two dimensional and three dimensional media for client review and approval | Selecting furniture, art, plans, and all appropriate construction finishes for projects | Construction and bid-set document generation | Event planning and diagramming | Coordination with engineers to acquire necessary MEP drawings on a per project basis
Office Administration Duties: General office organization (materials library, general office supplies, demo chair inventory, etc.) | Project intake creation | New hire (co-op) training and acclimation | Generation of organizational documentation standards (to keep track of ongoing projects, budget, outstanding punchlist items, etc.).
Project Administration Related Duties: Update and maintain project information in spreadsheets and e-builder | Attend construction update meetings and providing pertinent information/drawings to facilitate continued project mobility, | Prepare and update meeting minutes | Coordination of installations or furniture and other ‘soft cost’ items within projects, | Coordination with in-house trades departments (Carpentry Shop, Transportation, Sign Shop, etc.) | Monitor construction activity in the field | Assisting Project Managers in scheduling, cost tracking and reporting | General correspondence with product and furniture vendors to obtain and help process product quotes & orders.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) plus 2 years of experience in in construction, architecture and/or project management. Or 8 years of experience in design and construction or project management in lieu of the Bachelor’s degree. Additional qualifications: Qualifications: | Possess the ability to work independently in difficult and complex tasks; | Must possess the ability to clearly articulate and communicate; | Must possess ability to read and interpret general documents, such as project reports, internal and external communications, and construction drawings | Must possess ability to organize and prioritize workload, be pro-active in identifying project needs/requirements that can be actioned without supervision, track calendar events and meetings, and organize as necessary (agendas/follow-up on actions/minutes). | Strong, documented skills in the areas of organization, problem-solving and personal interactions; | Self-motivated with sound decision-making skills | Proficient in Microsoft Office; Microsoft Project; AutoCad (Mac) | Knowledge of Sketchup and Adobe Programs preferred
